could someone please give me some idea as to what could be wrong..
when applying pressure to brake pedal, coming to a stop ,seem to be losing revs and intermitentaly completey stalls.. starts straght away though.. any thoughts would be appreciated.. thankyou kumbi |

Sounds like a vaccuum leak. The assistance provided to your braking system is supplied using a vaccuum, hence the black bit behind your brake master cylinder being called a vaccuum booster.
If it is holed, you will cause a vaccuum leak, and the engine requires vaccuum to run. the symptom you mention could be caused by a major leak somewhere. is the dipstick fitted properly, and the seal intact, is the oil filler cap fittedproperly, and seal intact. As my useless freind Useless mentioned, could be a 100 things. Hope to have been some assistance.

Had this problem when I had removed unichip to sell from EL, had modified cam, and when I braked would stall.

Yeah, sounds like your brake booster is stuffed. A good way to check is to start the car and let it idle while stationary, and see if the engine stalls or drops the revs a lot when you press on the brake pedal.
