Default Altezza Tail lights?

Is it just me or is there an increasingly large number of cars getting around with these stupid looking tail lights?
Sure theyre ok on the ricers and lowlux utes, but Falcons and commodores?? I have seen so many VR/S commodores with these things on the back, looks like they have two big dents in the **** end

What do you guys think?

No, there isnt really a point to this thread, im just bored lol

nah I agree, but like everyhting else its their cars not mine.

I think in the right colour/bodykit it can look ok. But those VS ones are the worst by far! I crack up everytime I see them; worse still the owners think they are sh!t hot..lol

Agreed! These are the one's I've got and I think they look good against the colour of my car. I guess it depends on which ones you get too. I chose the 3 light coz the other ones looked a bit overboard to me.

But I gotta agree with Polyal, the worst one's are the one's I've seen on VS's. To me they look ridiculous (sorry, but they do!) but everyone has different tastes I guess.

totally sick of seeing the VR/S commies with them. most VT onwards dont look that great on the majority of the car either.
mazda done the right thing and made them standard on the '6' range (and the rest). looks good coz they werent meant to be there.

ist funny how the majority of people that say that they are crap come in two categories:

1. No different lights avaible for their car
2. They are "old school"; and basically dont touch the cosmetic side of cars (except wheels)

I have a set on My ED, they are Ea shaped ones, so i had to get a Ea boot garnish, and i recon tey look awsome. They way i see it, for all e-series owners, if you don't like clear tail lights, why do you add clear indicators and repeaters? Its much the same. I really love my cars ****, and sure they may be hard to see, but i have seen standard lights just as bad.

Clear lights FTW.

I disagree. I've added clear indicators to the front to remove the ugly amber. The red on the taillights looks good though. It's just the amber I don't like. If there were aftermarket taillights with the amber replaced with clear but the red staying the same, I would buy them. I hate those fully clear ones. Also, I've noticed when the lights are on, they look pink. I was also following an EF with the fully clear taillights at night recently, and the taillights looked really dim and hard to see. At night the standard ones are a lot easier to see.

hehe, I dont think it makes a car rice, but they just dont suit certain cars ( especially the VR/S sedans! ), not to mention theyre hard to see during the day!

One of my mates just bought a light blue XR6t ute and has already purchased altezza tail lights and canon mufflers, noooooo!

IMO tinted tail lights looks so much nicer ( though technically illegal )

I like them on the AU and BA utes. Dont like AU sedans, the Monaro ones look good on Monaros, VR/S are plain wrong, and cannon tips should be illegal.

Mostly they look crap. I personally wouldn't buy them, but I do have some AU altezzas on my car. A present from the missus - something you don't knock back, especially when it's for the car!

If I could, I would swap them for a set of the newer style altezza's, as fitted to Mrs Hoops' car. They look heaps better than the ones I've got - mine are the same as AU Fairmont -s-'s

As for other cars - who cares. If it's not your car, why worry about what other people fit to theirs. There are probably blokes who think that NOT fitting altezza style lights is a big no-no. Each to their own I say.

I am not "old school," but a majority of them look dreadful. About the only ones I can stand are the IS200/300 ones, and the Mazda6 ones are (just) okay too. To be honest, I don't mind SOME of the Monaro ones, but there are only a couple of styles that I like - and it has to be on the right colour.

The VR/VS ones are an absolute joke. And I don't only say that because I am not a fan of Commies, but seriously, I question how ANYONE can find them the least bit attractive.

Do people just get them because they are aftermarket???

I like them on a lot of cars (Mazda, Lexus etc) but on Falcons & Commodores I think they look tacky.

It could just be that after seeing 50 VR/S Commdores per day the ones that have Altezza lights really stand out.

I reckon they look ghey, but in some cases they can look pretty nice I got a pic of a purple VS with a nice kit and rims and they look real nice on that but they suck on stockers!

I could be wrong here, but I swear the VR/VS's came standard with Altezzas.... Well they started out as red, but then they started to fade. Some went pink, and only a lucky few turned into the real thing.

I think they look great on Altezzas, Mazda 6's, Monaros and most other cars that come with them from the factory, but SFA of them actually look good aftermarket. I don't mind AU 3 light ones on white AUs only. Nothing looks worse than Altezza lights on dark cars.

Edit- Oh yeah, and silver AUs look good too :
