Question Rear View Mirror

The rear view mirror on my Au 2 makes an annoying buzz when the car is in motion. I can stop it by putting my finger on it but that is not a long term solution.

It appears that the wedge connection between the mirror assembly and the adhesive part on the screen needs a little help but How tell me how does the mirror disconnect from the screen mounting?

Thank you for your kind thought, Blackers 10. My XD, XE, EA and EB 2 all had Allen key retention but this one on the AU is different. It has two, about 3mm square, holes on the top of the mirror retention assembly about 8mm apart with what looks like a spring clip inside but my nose gets in the way when I get up close to seek more details!

No amount of prodding, both jointly and singly, seems to release any hidden catch.

Buzz buzz!

mine has been the allen key that u can see when looking BELOW the mirror.. that sorta attached the mirror ELBOW to the windscreen it self..

u could jiggle the whole thing up and down a fair way...

im guessing thats how you remove the mirror from the windscreen

From memory and may be wrong the AU rear V mirror just snaps back on ? have you given it a gentle nudge back ?

Does it look like it should just snap back with the spring clip you mention?

: Hi 91a,
Windscreen guy here.. The mirror does just slide onto the wedge mirror boss. When it slides down it has 2 prongs that clip over the edge of the boss. 2 ways ro get it off..
1- insert long skinny prod up the square hole on the bottom to release the prongs and push upwards on the mirror.
2- grab mirror with both hands while lifting up, twist anti-clockwise.The boss is strongly mounted to the glass so mirror should come away with a little force.
Obviously the 1st method is preferred if 2nd is nerve racking, but 2nd is quicker.
Good luck!!
PS. I presume Aussie has the same mirror boss bonding methods as NZ.. :
PSS. Once off, refit with sika urethane in the connection part.Only be a for the next screen fitter.. :
