Casper Graphs...who said a VCT has no power?

Well, after all the stuff that has happened to my car over the last 18 months I thought it would be interesting to take the dyno graphs I had and compare them on one page to see the changes.
I plotted them all out and, with excel, added them to a graph. Actually very interesting. One thing that amused me is that now the latest power curve STARTS almost 10rwkw MORE than the original peak power with the dead MAP. Anyhow, I thought it was interesting.

Well, the blue line is with a dead Map and running a 10-1 A/F ratio, massive rich.
Purple is with the Unichip for the challenge and is closer to the stock figures. The next too are a huge jump with the exhaust and intake then the chip on top. All up, nothing in the head or engine has been changed, simply bolt on stuff.

Amaziiiing figures really, to get a 42% increase in power with these mods is excellent. And just shows you dont have to spend huge $$$ to get a I6 movin.

The Chip is $595 plus about $50 for fitting at a local distributer. I havent even had it custom tuned yet, its just a tune Lachlan did from the info I provided, still a little more in it when its custom tuned (another $200 or so). Well worth every cent too.

The VCT has an agressive cam as stock so that helps a bit too. Overall I cant complain, I think its a pretty good result for an auto.

Casper - if you can get down to 14.5 in a VCT 6 without pulling the motor apart, i for one will be bloody amazed.

now, how much is the chiptorque chip for the V8's. If it's around the same money and gets a similar result, I think I'm up for one of them. Do they do lay-buys?

Hehehehehe, prepare to be amazed by the end of the year JC. I'll get damn close to it I suspect.
As for the Chiptorque, well, it can do whatever the unichip can do and there some. Total cost is around $595 (chip) + $50 (fitting) + $200 (custome tuning) so your looking at $845 or there abouts. Certainly less than $1000 for the whole shebang, but no laybuy.

Thanks Casper - I found your link to their site earlier in the thread and clicked on it. I couldn't buy the chip (even though I added it to my shopping cart), so I e-mailed them with my mods, and am waiting for them to get back to me.

I'm very interested in doing this though, as the V8s tend to run pretty rich in standard tune as well, so leaning the mixture out a fraction should provide a bit more oompf.

Lachlan will look after you and he knows his stuff. I know Sylox has one on his and get a good bit of extra kw out of it. Now we are all waiting for Lachlan to sort out the torque tags so we can all have them removed as well

i would recomend chiptorque to do anywork, i have a custom HP4 chip in my NL *hides* and after a custom tune noticed a huge difference, and picked up quite a few missing Horses ended up with 192 at the treads, casper id be suprised if u wernt 205+ as the VCT is a very underrated engine with loads of potential.

Yeah, its hard to say whats at the engine but I'm guessing over 200kw now.
I'm not that fussed with rwkw stuff, I only use the dyno as a guage. The ET and MPH tells me what I want to know.

Seems funny now, 2 years ago the VCT was the "unmoddable slug" that no one took serious. Now it seems to have the opposite affect with people saying that cause its a VCT its got an unfair advantage over other stock cammed I6 engines. LOL, so long as it goes hard I'm happy.

1 redback muffler, 1 resonator.

That was taken about 2 foot from behind the exhaust.....and isnt really as clear as it could be. But yes, it is that loud. Silly thing is it has no real drone at all. I can cruise around quite quietly if I want.

Im just so stocked to be reading a post and to be shown actual evidence that it can be done... It was getting a little disheartening...

But I even noticed a change in the car getting rid of the the stock exhaust...

Yep, it can be done. Quite cheaply too in comparison to some. I've seen some funny stuff go on in the last 18 months. The VCT has gone from "the slug grandpa's XR6 that was unmoddable" to "its an unfair advantage, the VCT has more technology"

Already happened. A Series 3 manual with identical mods (no chip) pulled 160rwkw in November.

In and auto I'm pretty sure we can get a little more than 150 but not sure how much. Seems the AU3 VCT's had something different that gives them a tad more than the S1 VCT. Just got to find out what.

I'll be happy to see 155rwkw on mine. Hell, I'm happy with 150 but I know I can have a tad more advance on the chip programe so who knows.
