Hi Guys
Im new to this forum. Ive got a au series1 fairmont and car seems to idle very rough. If i rev the car to about 5000 rpm it back fires. Ive cleaned the throttle body, replaced leads, plugs, changed the oil filter, reset the ecu. Am i missing something coz its really starting to annoy me. Ive got a pod and a 2 1/2 cat back exhaust and i can clearly hear the car idle at the lights and shake as it misses Help !!!! |

Take out your spark plugs one by one and keep them in order.Check the colour of each.Chances are that if one is clearly different then investigate that cylinder for injectors/orings ,inlet manifold gasket leaks etc. Also dont forget spark..

Backfiring at 5000 sounds pretty harsh though.
get spark looked at first ... could be a vacuum leak on the intake side too. Maybe oxygen sensor .. but that shouldn't cause a backfire though. Maybe needs a tune (although I don't think the AU would get THAT far out of tune though.
