Default BP Ultimate & Mobil Synergy

Just thought people might be interested to know that I heard from a reliable source that BP Ultimate & Mobil Synergy are the same fuel, they come from the same place, same foundry whatever you want to call it, but the same fuel gets delivered to different places & labled different names. :voldar02:

TUFGPA, it may be worth doing a search before posting a thread. This issue has been done to death. I don’t know how many times this has this been discussed over the last three or so years.

Chris, it’s the same stuff. They store it at the Spotswood site and everyone, including contractors, load out of the same gantry with the same product arm.

Depends who you talk to. I wouldn’t believe half of the things they say there. After all, it is Mobil.

Well... I tend to find Mobil Synergy 6000 runs my car best... and my uncle's just switched running his Ferrari 355 from Optimax to Synergy 8000, and says it runs nicer. So more good petrol around at different servo's? Good thing I'd say...

Well its a good thing if you buy BP, because my freind that worked at BP here in Perth said that they did everything right when refining it, but when it gets sold off to other companys then you have know idea what they add to it.

Well after doing some dyno testing I have always said that mobil 8000 and bp98 work the best in my application.

Interesting comments. In my little roadster (2 litre fairly hi compression motor) I have tried all brands of the higher octane fuels. From my experience, optimax is crap, synergy is OK but not as good as BP98. AVGAS is the bees knees, so that is what I use.

I've noticed the same also. Even with klms per tank, I noticed them to be better than other brands.

What I'm curious about is why BP Ultimate had supply problems in Melbourne going back a few weeks, whilst Mobil Synergy 8000 was supplied without issue - seems a bit odd if they're the same fuel supplied from the same place.

Good point.

BP98 run 10 better in my car than Mobil 8000 stuff.

It might be the same fuel from the same place, however, it’s sold on an allocation basis. Because Mobil run the place they will always make sure they have enough for themselves before they sell any to other people. Mobil’s’ despatch allocation is actually run in New Zealand so that also adds further delays to outside interests.

BP do not put any additives in, like I said in the last post, it’s the same stuff. :togo:

Wink

Surely mobil must know that their petrol is not as good and correct the problem.I mean in the short time that we have been discussing this we have worked out which brand we would rather buy.
