* The oil pump is driven directly off the crankshaft. So when the engine is running, the oil pump is too, therefore eliminating serious potential for engine wear.

Well you would hope the oil pump is working/running while the engine was.
Well till the oil pump gears break anyway.

Been that way since the BA came out, and they still can fail as well, it has happened to a few people on the forums.
