Default February 2006 New Car Sales

Another month has just drawn to a close. Anybody willing to make any predictions about the numbers prior to the Vfacts data being released at the end of this week?

Gee I hope it was a better month than that! Some people will soon be singing for their dinners if the new car sales don't recover soon.

Yes Feb has been a much better month indeed. Fiesta and Focus have also done ok.

Total for the local cars is 7,722. Not bad when compared to last years figure of 8,394 (from memory). Feb 06 is down 8% on Feb 05 whereas Ford is planning to cut production by 13%.

Falcon is less than Feb 05 but higher than objective.

Territory is less than Feb 05 and less than Feb 05.

Same with Falcon ute.

Fiesta was over 200 units higher than Feb 05 and up on objective.

Focus was down on both counts but March/ April will be big for Focus.

Overall, I think Falcon has had a successful month as it is only just onder Feb 05.
The only real worry is Falcon ute, and Territory could also be a worry but it will bounce back.

Isn't the Holden One Tonner getting ceased? This can only mean one thing, increased sales for Falcon ute.

Over 1,000 - probably around 1,230.

05 380 Plated vehicles have become LE with about $2,000 worth of extras selling at $29,990.

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the vehicle, its just that MMAL marketing stuffed up the launch campaign and the price of the vehicle on the market, combined together with heavy discounting from the Holden and Ford.

And the Mitsi workers are spruiking in the city mall on their off days. Extolling the virtues of the 380 face-to-face with the city shoppers. Now thats innovative and proactive! "Excuse me Sir, can I take a moment of your time to tell you about the Mitsubishi 380. I made four of them last week and they are a really good car... I know, I put the bits together! Trouble is they're roasting in the yard unsold now. But you know, you can pick one up for $5K off the list price with a few extras thrown in...... except for an LPG conversion. Please consider"

You realise that you can take the style side off and falconute and sell it and have any manner of tray back installed, dont you? Which means the limited edition was is not all that... special.

THere are heaps of XR tray back s around Brisbane, there is one particularly nice HgAg ute, Turbo, with APS gear and a polished flat bed frame with timber slats and 19" rims floating around., but its definately not 1tonne.

You'll find very little private buyers amongst the LWB crowd.. Most are taxis, hire cars or fleet. My guess there going for Lexus, Honda Accord Euros and the like

As of March no. Good supply coming in and quality seems to be better.

RATT when the big marketing campaign for the XR5 comes out there will be plentiful supply of the Focus.

Falcon should do better than last month. the 380 should push at least 1500 units.

Could we get the figures posted on here FF instead of starting a new post like last month.
