Question Some people dont have a clue

Morning all,
I have a question to ask, if you see my Falcon pictured beside what is the first question you would ask? example have you done any work to it etc, right.

But no since buying the falcon you know what the main question that I have got from people who see the car Is it an XR6 Turbo?

No an XR6 has the badges that say its an XR6 and the Turbo has the the writing on the boot under the badge.
do anyone think this is a strange occurence dont people have any clue.

I was thinking people are confused now what if I get the Turbo badge stick it on the boot and then get a custom sticker made up under it so it kinda looks like this.
FALCON
TURBO
MAYBE

THAT'LL BUGGER THEM WONT IT

Dont stick a turbo badge under an XR6 NA badge that would be unintelligent.

A lot of people are taking turbo badges off these days, dunno why, guess for the surprise factor. I'd prefer to just take all badges off, have a clean look.

What would screw people up is taking an XR6T and bring it back to a XT spec looking vehicle ... (inc. hubcaps and steelies) LOL.

They won't know what hit them.

Come on....

Most people are not car nuts like us, they actually have a LIFE.

The mere facts that these people know:

a) that there is such a thing as an XR6 Turbo or Falcon Turbo
b) that it looks something like your car
c) that an XR6 Turbo is a "prestige" and sort after vehicle
d) they didn't ask if it was a Clubsport or a WRX or a Skyline or what ever

has to be a good thing.

You know that somewhere on a train watchers forum there will be a post....

don't have a clue... thought the 1972 pullman loco model A was a model C and eveyone knows the middle wheel is 2cm smaller......

and some people will laugh at that.

Thats all good mate.

The XR6 Turbo is the hero car everyone knows about and most people think the XR6 is a an XR6T.

Bound to give the XR good resale.

I dont really understand why anyone would get irritated with someone asking what their car was?
Why is it so offensive? You should be stoked that someone thinks your car looks good enough to even enquire about!!!!!!!!! thats IMHO :alien2:

i like to be different ,make the best out of what I have the pure fact that of the matter is the comments and questions I get are from those who should know are at least have an idea, the falcon has to be one of the easiest to tell the difference between the xt, xr6 xr6 turbo and so on ,ИИИИ they have badges and markings everywhere. It irritates me as I have not changed the car to much and it is obvious even to a great grandmother that no longer drives it is not a XR6 or Turbo before lifting the bonnet.
I understand if I was building a sleeper as I did it with a Mazda 808 4door standrd rims no special effects on the outside of the car bar the exhaust under the bonnet 13B bridge/J port thing hammered and people didnt expect it out of that car as it was built to do exactly that surprise but the Falcon no sleeper here sound and look good is all I can do.

I copped "is it a turbo?" for the first year heaps when I first got my NA, and they would always procede with a "well why didn't you buy a turbo then?". The 2nd question ИИИИed me off the most.
I don't get it that often now.

I had a MkI XR6 & copped the same questions. I bought a GT-P and the ego battering is worse when so many people ask "what's a GT" : .

you get the people with the v6 falcons... and the supercharged v8 standard commodores... and that all xr6s are turbo, just that hardly anyone knew... even the ebs... it is quite fun to pick on them though... like saying a water pump is a turbo... gets a good laugh... some people dont deserve to breathe the same air we car fans breathe...

And if someone walked into a computer store and asked for a "Centrino processor", they computer sales guy would probably go on their IT boards going "Can you believe people think 'Centrino' is actually a processor, not a platform that uses the Pentium M processor?" or something like that... I'm not huge into it so that might be incorrect, but you get the idea ;)

Some people just don't get into cars enough to know. People ask 'stupid' questions wether you own a XR6T, XR6 NA, FPV, or Hyundai Excel.. It happens, no biggy.

Annoying cause the BA has turned every one of these sort of smacktard into a Ford expert.. yet none of these jokers have any clue that Ford even made an XR6 before 2002.

Its great that the BA is such a success that it has put Ford at the top of the pile again.. I just wish all the "fairweather" Holden smacktards didnt feel compelled to jump ship and suddenly become "Fordophiles" until the next big thing arrives.

Rumour has it a young blonde recently returned a car to the dealers complaining that the door windows were sealed shut. Once the service guy worked out what she was talking about, he pointed out the window winding handles, then gave a quick demo of their operation. She decide that was too 'inconvenient' and returned the car anyway, or so the story goes.
