Default Who has the quickest NA ba xr6 ?

Hey guys
Just curious about what times people are getting out of their modified NA ba xr6. Has anyone got into the 14's yet, if so what mods have been done? I'm sure these cars stock are capable of mid 15's but just wondering who has the quickest xr6.

Mine has done 14.80 @ 95.33mph. Should do better but need clutch and LSD. Am going to be doing some more mods with G&D hopefully, so might get into the 13s.

Here is a link to a thread with loads of info about XR6 NA mods.

There was a red one at Heathcote that ran a 14.7 with nothing but a catback and an edit tune.

according to the article on their website , their BA is a 5spd BARRA182 with exhaust, extractors, intake and JMM sequential tuner. Quite an impressive time for those mods...

I am on my 3rd clutch and I have done 75 000km. This one is buggered too. Has been replaced under warranty but no longer.

However, I have used the car for drag racing on numerous occasions. But the stupid thing should be able to be stalled to higher than 2500 in my opinion... as it stands, you cant go higher than that, so you get a rubbish launch and its not worth it.

Go for the aftermarket ones, dont bother with Ford rubbish.

Does anyone know why these xr6's are half a second slower then a XT on the drag strip? I was reading the back of the motor magazine, and it says an xr6 does 15.8 and an xt does 15.2. Kinda surprised me, would it be because the xr6 is heavier? What else can it be? I mean half a second is a big difference.

Or maybe 15.2 is just all lies!! lol

You cant trust motor / wheels times. There are just too many mistakes in . XT's are slower than XR6's end of story.

I dont know how a set of alloy wheels, 3.45 diff gears , plastic spoiler and seat trim could make any more than a 5kg difference over an XT?

As far as I was aware, there no difference in the mechanical aspects to both cars. The only difference being a bodykit, colour choices and different trim??

The XT is quicker than the XR6 because it is significantly lighter. The XR6 has heavier seats, trim, 17inch wheels (and, obviously, tyres), bodykit which all add up I guess.

Dont take too much notice of Motor times. I would have thought a stock XR6 NA would do around 15.5 and a stock XT might do a 15.2... but that depends on whether they are autos or manuals.

Mechanically they are pretty much the same. The engines are the same. However, the XR6 NA has 3.73 diff, while the XT has 3.23. The XR6 also has LSD as an option and I dont think it is an option on the XT. Same with manual (although it used to be optional on the XT). I also think the XR6 has lower springs as it rides lower than an XT.

Mine is probably quite a lot heavier than a base XT as it has a sunroof and a few other options.

Rule of thumb is considered 50kg = a tenth on the track... roughly. Doesnt really explain Motors times and comparisons, does it?

The XT is faster, but not by more than 2 or 3 tenths, in my opinion.

The weight difference is less than 50kg, and the XR6 diff ratio for the 4 speed auto is 3.45. The lower diff ratio should just about overide the weight difference. There should not be any more than a tenth between them in theory.
