Default Silliest Wings or Bodykits

Whats the Silliest Wing and/or bodykit you have ever seen on a car.

This would be one of my tops (sorry to you escort lovers):

I also saw a white VR/VP commo with a similar wing sort of setup... about the height of the roof line - lol....

That above Ford Escort comes with the Baron's Seal of Approval

*Insert 'Ride of the Valkeyrie's' by Wagner here

That really is pointless wing. I actually saw a hideous monstorisity on a VR (act surprised) that looked like a carbon fibre wing out of Need For Speed Underground on an otherwise stock VR complete with black steelies down at KFC this afternoon (Im didnt have my camera on me).

For those who havent seen the Top Gear carbage section check this out- It is chockers full of these montsters

You're bagging the Escort Cosworth, at least the bodykit was functional, seems to be the same as fitted to the WRC cars of the era.

Cosworths are very highly regarded performance cars, especially in the UK. For a while, the RS200, cosworth tuned, was the fastest accelerating car in the world, rocketing from 0 - 60 mph in 3.02 seconds. The cosworth above is a great car, renowned for its terrific handling, grip and tremendous power for a car that size. Today, it would still easily outperform so called hero cars such as the xr6T. The wing is beneficial unlike the kits that come out on sports models nowadays, ala sportivo and what not. They improved aerodynamics when the car hits a certian speed as well as when it corners, etc. It will live as a legend of the rally track. Cosworth certainly tune engines alot better than FPV or HSV will for a while thats fo sho.

I presume you mean 0 - 60 kph, because the Cosworth's 0 - 60 mph standard performance was from 5.7 to 6.2 (depending on model).

RS200...(a car in its own right, not sierra or escort based) the beasty Mid engined, 4wd Group B homologation special. The Evo versions with the heavily boosted 2.2l Cossie motor were very, very quick.

I spose you guys all think DJ's RS500 Sierra Cosworth had a gay bodykit too?

Sierra Cosworth RS500? :

Having had the pleasure of being punted around an areodrome in one just after I passed my driving test (part of an advanced course - pressie from the folks) I will not have a bad word said about them.

The wing served a purpose and wasn't just for looks (although remember kids, this was 1987 and everybody loved wings back then). I would gladly have one parked in my driveway, unmodified and perfect. But in black.

PS - this pic of a normal Cossie, not the RS500. My bad. Small prize for the first person to tell me, from this angle and without looking at badges, what the difference is between them... visually, at least.

The RS500 had a extra lip on the rear wing.
no driving lights (ducts for brake cooling instead)
and an extra slot in the front bumper to feed the enlarged intercooler.
Plus a swag of engine mods to allow 500hp on stock internals

Oops, my bad. I thought we were talking about Escorts. I'd never even heard of the RS200. I'm making up for that lapse now and reading up on it. What a wicked little machine. Apparently it's faster than a McLaren F1. :O

Nope.

RS200 = 0-60MPH in 3.02. Full comp spec it was claimed that they could get this down to 2.6sec.

RESPECT.

(ps RS200, is NOT what is in the photos in this thread)

Bit O/T & Not cossie bashing ....
A mate of mine was the driver of Dick Johnsons 3rd Sierra at Bathurst when he ran the 3 cars , Terry had been racing for years and had an RX7 exactly the same as Moffits at one stage, he ran Mini's & RX3's as well , also had driven GTHO's .. BUT he said the Sierra was the "biggest neck-snapping cars he's ever driven" and that the power was incredible and it was one of the biggest highlights of his racing career .

As for "silly wings" , in the mid '80's there was a Red XW Ute Running around Toongabbie/Seven Hills area & the wing was 1/3 the size of the Ute Tray (Looked like a pop-riveted flat iron speedway spoiler) was absolutely a POS , But like what has been said "Everyone to his own" The guy thought it looked fantastic : ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Happy to say I never took a photo of it .
