hey simon, i have the egas model falcon with the converter and i have extractors. and the fitted without even touching the converter. i have pacemaker ph4499's.
i just modded the heat sheild, like severely cut it back so it just protects the converter but wont cook or overheat the extractors. look into it mate

heres a photo mate, the gas converter is in the bottom right of the pic

Is that legal to do, and do you had any issues with it?

If the ss/r8 have a decent exhaust system you might think otherwise when they put their foot down! Iv been in a ss with a exhaust system and to be honest well the old Inline 6 just can't compete with a v8.

Its great you finally got an exhaust just wait till you get some extractors and it will sound twice as good again!

Sorry Mate I think your Mate was just being nice to you. As there is no way a AU 6 with a off the shelf Redback is going to sound better then either a ford or Holden 8. with a exhaust. nothing beats the V8 rumble :1syellow1

P.s Im sure it sounds really nice tho

Well the R8 prob sounded a little better, but we tested them whilst they were standing still and mine sound much deeper and had a nice burble then the SS!

I guess we'll see how they both compare wen there on the road! But i know mine sounds sweet inside n out haha!

But like i said to my mates parents it's a totally diffrent ball game....V8's Verses I6.............

Cheers

Hey Shan,

I got it fully installed with a gas tune for $324! It's a second hand exahust off Krissy's (FRDGAL_AU6) car! But the exhaust is so close to brand new its not funny...It had only done under 2,000kms if that i think! It's mint as!

Cheers

That's a very good price, even for second hand. Mine was $350 new, but I had to fit it myself (easy as), and I didn't get a tune.

Mine has the extra resonator at the back though, to quiten it down (it's on the family wagon, after all), but still sounds good. And I know what an I6 sounds like with no muffler (in fact no system at all apart from pacemaker extractors - bl0ody loud!), so I can imagine that with a single muffler, it must sounds pretty nice.

Not as nice as my XR8 with single 3" and one muffler, but nice nonetheless.

Good work - is the car running well now?

Yeah it's not idling as rough as it used to, but i think the problem could be in the converter or something like that! It sill wont start on gas!

I was told by JMM that they use different mufflers on their cat back system than on the Red Back
I would reckon that they are made to their specs by Manumatic who Manufacture the Red Back and other OEM systems

I got a redback exhaust (2 years ago) and it costed $190 installed then an extra $70 for the twin tip. Its got the redback sticker on the muffler and all.

Exhausts seem to have taken a sharp price hike. Iv actually still got the receipt here for it, its from jack beedhams.

My SS has an exhaust upgrade, a V6 can't match it. I'm planning on getting Pacemaker headers and Lukey exhaust for the I6 so I'm hoping it will sound half as good as my SS.

hey smoked, i haven't had any issues with it and the converter has to be hot anyway...remeber it gets its heat from the hot water hoses from your radiator.

i am quite positive it is leagal to have your converter next to extractors. if that was illegal then i would imagine having a standard setup would be illegal also.

and i have a semi heat sheild covereing them so even if cops do see them, i am not fussed

I got a quote today for a single muffler 2.5 system (redback) from jack beedham for $210 fitted, so that's only 20 bucks more than duffman paid a couple of years ago. I guess some things haven't gone up that much. Anyone got any experience with hurricane or hi-tech extractors, also got a quote for them, $350 installed. Sounds pretty good to me.

Ok. I ask because a member here has been trying to get something similar and according to him, this kind of setup is illegal within NSW. Cheers for your response.
