Traffic lights causing accidents

The traffic lights are out of sync on the plenty road ring road on/off ramps. They caused the car infront of me to t-bone another car today. Where do you complain about faulty and incorrectly designed traffic lights?

There is usually a signal box right on the ground near the traffic lights (withing 10m) which actually control the lights. It is usually painted in a light blue colour and has a phone number to ring on it, as well as a number to quote, if the lights are stuffed.

I gave the drivers a written statement saying I saw the lights go red out of sync. This what the lights did, is it a fault or just bad engineering?

This also happened at the M5 northbound offramp at Heathcote Road about a month or 2 ago. I at the time, I travelled that road every second day and everytime I was at the intersection I always witnessed a near miss. One week I saw 3 accidents being cleared up as well. I will try to get a photo of the guardrail/armco if they haven't replaced it yet. Its in a pretty shocking state, pushed by multiple accidents in a metre or so.

I'd call the number on the traffic light box or get in contact with VicRoads asap.

Looking at that pic, the red car that got t-boned went through a red light?

Usually with intersections like that, the lights (in the direction of the red car) go off sequentually to allow thru traffic to clear rather than being caught at the lights in the middle, if you know what I mean. I know the intersection that you are talking about (under the ring road on plenty road) and I suspect the guy in the red vehical (from your pic) would be at fault.

I think this is what vic roads will say. Its very dangerous because the lights are high up and to the side, its also a 70 or 80 zone and the next set are pretty much exactly where you look when you are traveling at a speed like that. If your comming the other way and get stopped at the red lights you cant even see the first set properly and might drive through when the second set go green.

Theres nothing wrong with the lights, what is needed is more speed cameras.
