The August edition of Motor magazine has 70+ editorial content photos of Holdens in it! There are many more in advertising as well.

Why on Earth the motoring world falls all over Holden I'll never know.
Paul Gover alone orgasms every time dennis mooney says holden, and the rest of them just fall into line and gloss over the failures and rebrand them success. BTW, Jaedene Hudson is still licking her lips at Holden.

Now if a lot of people are talking about a new model and want to know before everyone else, would they buy a mag that says VE secrets reveled? ***** oath they would. I just hope Ford stir up this kind of interest for Orion, make the car seem like it's going to change your life, like its the greatest thing since slice bread! Holden do a great job of this, I knew the VE wasn't going to be all that special (well for 1.2billion spent on it, it isn't) but it got everybody talking about it and for the Holden fan boys the hype has worked on them. I'm still waiting for the technical specs so I can see whats so great about the car.........oh wait they fixed that POS suspension that they had. Hardly worth 1.2b. |

Just to clarify for the ininformed, the new Motor does not have any articles on the VE. The space is mostly taken up by the "tribute" to the VT-VZ models, and I nearly choked when I read the quote on the front cover - "We salute a cult classic" :
Incidentally, the Camaro story relates to how they believe much of the new retro Camaro will make its way into the Monaro, which Motor claims will reappear in around 2009. Provided this is true, I think its an appalling business decision to publicly kill off a model (for the second time) only to bring it back 3-4 years later, and what about all those people who bought the "last" Monaro's? out: |

Yes they do XE. Given 5 Million pounds in 1946 by the Australian Gov to build a car, hostile take over of Holden's carriage works in Elizabeth in South AUstralia, Closing down a plant in NSW that they didn't even pay for? the ONLY company that was allowed to take 90% of it's profit out of Australia. Gee, I can see where this DEFINITELY was an Australian car?

Cause we all know that FORD started in Australia...SHEESH bangs head....
Maybe cause stories about Ford dont sell enough papers/magazines, or maybe cause most people who drive fords cant actually read... (yeah I can bash a brand as well). The VE is the most waited for Automotive design and change in Australian History.... As will be the next generation of Fords..... I remember back to the AU (Yes, everyone thought it was the best thing since slice bread, only to realise it was just a poor substitute). Why is it I see more attacking of the Holden Brand on the the Ford website than I ever see on a Holden website, do people who support and drive a Holden have more intelligence, and or dont really have an complex about them selves. GROW UP FFS..... (yeah I know is a ford site...blah blah blah....puts on flame suit and or waits to be banned...but for gods sake when will it be enough).

- no-one has claimed ford is an australian company - the ve the most waited for in australian history? i dunno about that one - brand bashing is when someone says fords/holdens are pieces of s*** - and the more intelligence thing..... well im sure there are people in both brands who sit in each paddock. |

Well, you obviously shouldn't bother being here? I hear all the rubbish about HOLDEN and how good it is? they won't even back their own cars in racing? As to the attacking of the holden car. I was having a shot at the company and NOT the car. And for the last, you an Aussie? Holdens aren't. I hope you grow up, learn to read and then go soak yourself in holden. |

I've looked at Motor in the newsagent - seems to be pretty useless to the average car buyer; is it the old 'Modern Motor"? Wheels on the other hand is a useful mag and clearly rates Ford the best - and they're right. Thanks heavens for Ford, makers of the best Australian cars.

Motor is considered to have a performance car focus (not a sports car focus) so you dont see too many of the more boring family type cars in there (you know the type), and more performance type road tests etc. Wheels is more the every day car owners mag, and they road test everything. While I find Motor more interesting as that is the stuff I like to see, I find they have had less credibility in recent times than Wheels but Im sure that will change. Ive not really been reading either of them lately, just skimming. As for the Ford v Holden debate, arguing which one is better is pointless. One is always going to be better than the other at some time with some things and then at some point, some of that will change. It just goes around it circles. Reasonable comparisons and discussions, analysis and observation is fine, but slagging each other off is a bit rich. Holden and Ford may be different teams but at least they are playing the same sport. Ricers are playing a different game altogether.... its like looking at the Port Power and Crows rivalry - its all the same sport. But ricers are like Rugby - different sport, different rules and just not fun. Just my opinion.

"Holden and Ford is like Rugby union and Rugby League - a constant territorial battle within themselves and against each other, led by big beefy engines. Ricers are just like AFL - go ok until they need to use some muscle". Note: this is a NSW perspective of course, so no offense to the less populated states. |

You're all pretty civil to the other side in FF. Coming from outside either camp and having owned two Holdens I don't have a problem saying which is the better brand. Holden simply has a history of mediocrity, playing catch ups with the competition and compromising its customers' safety (VP, Daewoo Barina). Ford hasn't exactly been crash hot either until the 2000s but now its products are clearly superior. The new Commodore will simply catch up with where the Falcon is now and everything will be even for a while. Lets see how it goes in ANCAP. On the other hand, Holden dealers are on the whole much better than Ford dealers.... :

I am sure there have been editions of Motor and Wheels that have contained a crapload of Ford photos in them too!!!
They released a new model, of course they are going to get plenty of coverage!

I remember the same mags going nuts with pics and writeups when the BA came out.. its all the same thing. I dont have a problem with the Holden/Ford rivalry. I like it. When its good natured, its fun and on a national scale, that competition fuels the market and the manufactuers to give us better cars every year. And I would drive ANY Holden/HSV ANY day over ANY ricer... Just my 2 cents. Jac

And keep in mind, the XR5 Isnt FPV and the VRX is a good $7K More expensive...Now thats XR6 Turbo Territory... XR5 Belongs against the Astra Turbo Now if FPV only ger there mitts on an XR5 ;) Such a shame FF cars are restricted in power output that can come through the wheels :( So much for Mr. Crennan Saying they (HSV) were a V8 Company... : : : :

It was in Shell at the same time I was, so I purchased. I haven't read a motoring magazine in months, so it didn't matter much if it was a bit old!
