I've had the opportunity to look inside a few VEs over the past week, including a black SS. And by black, I mean black - black paint, black seats, black door trim, black dash, black carpets, black hoodlining, black freaking everything. It was like crawling into a wood-fired pizza oven after the fire had gone out.
One thing that struck me, particularly with the black SS, was how difficult it is going to be to keep the VE interior looking clean and new. The vinyl fabric they are using on the dashboard and on the upper door trim looks good, but the texture is a very small and sharp geometric pattern that seems designed specifically to trap dust - or anything else. It seems to me that the dash/door material is going to be pretty much impossible to keep clean, and will probably age very badly. |

For those that don't buy the argument, get out to a Holden dealer and look (and feel) for yourselves. It's not the kind of thing you can describe with a photo - you have to see the physical product. |

Yep, this thread is a pretty poor attempt at bagging out the VE. :

Say that it's a petty point after 20000klm and the carpet, vinyl and other materials looks like they've done 100000klm.
Black is notoriously hard to keep clean, and an all black car would be a nightmare to own. I know, I have owned an all black car and spent all the time I owned it cleaning it. Terrible colour.

Im glad i gave away PD detailing with all the black plastics and trims i would go nuts every day!
I thought the beige trim and carpet in the 02 Corolla was bad. |

My first car was Black and because of this I had to work a little harder to keep it clean, now every car I have owned since, I keep very clean regardless of the colour. I also think that black interiors are the gun as well. All the best Muscle cars of the 60's and 70's had black interiors. These matched perfectly to all of the bright exterior colours they used then, including dare I say it "Lime Green" Can everyone remember the colour coded interiors of the 80"s???? i have noticed even in dads vz its a dust haven compared to the BA. the interior just collects dust. yet the ba seems easier to keep clean. i wonder how the new VE will be.
Does the Ve have a pollen or carbon filter. |

My observation wasn't specifically aimed at black - Its probably the worst, but as has been said, black is a dust magnet anyway. I have also had a black interior in a car before, so I understand the issue. However, that car had a quite smooth vinyl finish that wasn't too hard to wipe down.
I was really talking about the texture of the material used in the VE. I've just had a look at another SS with the black/red two tone trim, and it has the red trim on top of the dashboard. It just seems to me that the texture of the material is going to trap dust, fibres off your cleaning cloths, residue from liquids that might get spilt, even residue from your cleaning products, etc etc. I reckon it will be a bugger to keep cleans |

Interiors are important to me.
But I wouldn't buy a VE, unless it was 5 grand. Because that won't happen, I'll own one. Prefer a BF when it comes out. It might look outdated, but at least I'm not joining the new bandwagon and having people kiss my bottom due to the fact that I own the new Holden. |

I'd be more worried about them bright as hell almost white colours they use now a days. One stain and it will show up forever.

Fair enough, though I don't know if it were worth starting another thread for? Maybe it could have been brought up in one of the other VE threads?
