Default My ebay Experiences

I sometimes think I'm not mean't to get the good stuff on E-Bay, as Mick will confirm, but I have been waiting to bid on a Genuine Silver Tickford Fascia for the car. Anyway, after forgetting about it 10 days ago and going out right before the Auction finished, I relaised, yet it was too late. No bids, so it was relisted. So tonight I thought I'd wait till the last 20 seconds to bid, surprise surprise, someone else beat me to it. With 5 seconds to go, I finally got it. Then the phone rang, and silly me got up to answer it. Come back, find I've been outbid. Dag nab it, i hate this. If only I had remembered last week, then it wouldn't have been to bad.

You guys had this happen to you.

Get Auction Sentry.

You can configure it to snipe a bid at whatever time remaining in the auction.

I hate it when always ebay seems to take it's time loading a page (even on broadband) just when it's in the final minute of auction

Just read up on the Auction sentry, what happens if 2 people both have it and both bid on the same item?

Depends who's set there snipe closest to the auctions end. Chances of it happening would be pretty slim. There's a lot of other software out there that does the same.

I've jumped on my computer, set to get something that night on eBay. And for some reason i'd get distracted. And then realize, I've missed it all completely.

Another one will pop up, dont worry.

the BEST way in my experience is to talk to a friend on the phone who keeps refreshing the page so u can get a running update every 3 seconds, and then u place ur bid in the last 4 seconds. Works Wonders

But u CANNOT have dialup....

Merkus,

Why don't you just have 2 pages open. One set up with your final bid, and the other one with the auction item. Keep hitting the refresh on the auction item 'till around a few seconds to go and then alt + tab to the confirm bid page and BANG!

This is an alternative to using software.

Don't give up George...

The bottom line is how much you want it and how much you're willing to pay. Then sit back and watch. If you're still there in the final few seconds, place your snipe.

As I'm sure you know, research other sources first, because a lot of times a better bargain can be had elsewhere. ie. those pricks that keep listing clear repeaters for $35, buy now $40 when you can get 'em for $15.15 from Ford.
Then again (new thought), those out bush may find it cheaper considering fuel costs to get to a dealer...

And what would Casper be doing with a Tickford fascia if it has no impact on his 1/4 mi time?

I'm going to look into sentry and E-Sniper. Thanks for the info guys

While I rushed of to do another search on Tickford on Ebay, i found some Tickford Key rings. Very sexy. Its no dash fascia, but it helps to ease the pain, for just a moment longer.

Key rings are not rice. Without them, how would you keep your key and remote together :hihi:

Interesting to read about people's ebay techniques.

I work ebay on the principle that I know what an item is worth to me.

I then enter that amount as my max bid.

If I get it for my max bid or lower then I'm happy.

If I don't get it because my bid was too low then I'm still happy because that's all the item was worth to me.

I don't think there is anything out there that I simply "must" have...

I do have KFC every now and again, Zinger Burgers have been my favourite since Uni days (I remember fondly $5 getting you 2 Zingys), but the Hot and Spicy and Tasty Crispy pieces get me going too.

The potato and gravy is nice too, and the chips with extra seasoning, dipped into the gravy make it really nice.

And the coleslaw can be quite refreshing on a hot summer's day.

The buns are even nice when fresh!

Where are the car keys? :

The guy with the fascia has relisted it. He tells me its a new item, but its under relisted.

Same as something else I bid on. Its also been relisted. I suspect these people are bumping up the bids through dummy accounts, and when they don't go for what they want, they are relisting them. If they gave the 2nd chance draw, it might seem all above board.

Here we go again.
