Hey all,
I have just been reading a bit about the H3 Hummer being brought into Australia by Holden. I was just wondering would you consider buying one? Does Holden actually have anything to do with them apart from importing them? Also, are they going to convert them from Right-hand drive to left-hand??? Cheers,

And it's not a soft roader. Live rear axle, transfer case, decent approach/departure/ramp-over andles, diff lock/reduction gears/33" tyre's on the 'adenture pack' offered in the states. I wouldn't have one - don't really like the look of them to be honest - and the engine doesn't sound too special. But if i wanted to go offroad without mods it would have to be near the top of the list. Last edited by dogbreath_48; 03-11-2006 at 02:05 PM. |

I hope no one buys them. It sucks trying to get around the occasional semi, let alone bloody GM monster trucks that every soccer mum will have. :jab:

Oh that kind of hummer!
Nope. Stupid bloody things. If I had kids (and everyone knows kids dont fit in anything smaller than a 4WD truck) then maybe, 'coz these days Im sure you really do need a mini combat vehicle to get to day care. *cough* ******* *cough* Seriously, these things are going to be bought by people who cant parralel park a Barina. Nor do they have any concept of other road users it seems. 4WDs have a place, but it isnt tooling around the city. But if you want one, go for it. Its your money. |

I would probably take either a F-350 or F-650 over a Hummer.

its doesnt have much torque either.
From Wikipedia: The L5R (also called Vortec 3700), is a straight-5 truck engine. It displaces 3.7 L and shares much with the rest of the Atlas family. It produces 242 hp (180 kW) and 242 ft·lbf (327 N·m). It is used in the following vehicles: 2007 Chevrolet Colorado 2007 GMC Canyon 2007 Isuzu i-Series 2007 Hummer H3 |

I thought Australia was complaining about how there are so many 4wd and now Hummer coming to Aus, with people complain about the size of our 4wd isnt it just stupid to bring an even bigger one to Aus also with petrol price as well

Mate of mine has a new H1....its black with lots of chrome extras and is just awesome. Drive wise...no real surprise, a bugger to park...uses heaps of fuel, and drives like an old jeep cherokee on steroids. The thing has real presence on the roads and attracts a lot of attention. Now if I was a 7' african american with a big donger and lots of gold roun ma neck that be da ride fer me bro.

The H3 is no bigger than a Territory. So size isnt an issue.
It would eat alive a Territory offroad, and anything else in the same catagory. Its built in South Africa as RHD, it doesnt need converting. If you're going to spend most of your time onroad, the a Terry would be a better vehicle. If you're going to do more than your average offroading then the H3 is better suited.

I like the Hummer, even the H3. I don't like it because it's a Hummer, i like it for what it is. I know it's not big, but I like the car. It needs a diesel! So does the H2. having said all that, i would still prefer a 2008 Ford F250 crew cab Lariat 4X4 with the 6.4L Powerstroke V8
