Some people need to harden the **** up. How come it's offensive when a white person says it, but when a black person says it somehow it is not? Correct if I'm wrong but isn't it the same word.

Before anyone asks I have many black friends and they couldn't give a rats who called them that word- black or white.

Was wondering how long before this side of it would come up. If you read the comments on youtube they're asking why it's ok for Chris Rock or Eddie Murphy to say it, but not Michael Richards. I think it's in the intention - not in the colour of the person saying it. IMO Michael Richards was trying to insult the guy who heckled him, and definitely went way over the line with his use of it.

Exactly, and in those cases it is almost a term of endearment, and recognition amongst people of the same background. Anyway, after 911 the focus has really shifted away from this racist crap and Michael Richards is a total deadbeat for making such an outlandish and stupid bunch of comments. Under current US laws, if the guy he hckled makes a complaint then Richards can be done for racial vilification.

I remember high scholl(barely but have some flash backs) the guys I used to hang with were a huge mix of nations and colors, so don't someone jump on the racist bandwagon and start painting me. The thing that I remember most was how much crap we gave to each other, none of us got too sooky about it, grow up and enter the real world, leave fantasy for the books.

Simply stating the facts, we have always thought of Blacks, Asians, Indians as a minority, but the funny thing is that they are far from a minority on the world stage.

Stating sub-groups puts it more into context, I'm not saying that any of them claim to be anything apart from what they are.
