Default AUII Coil Overs, who n where?

gday everyone!

I want to fit Coil Overs to my ute mostly for the ease of adjusting ride hight for shows whilst using blocks on the rear...ive gone into a reputable suspension place here in Perh and they tell me the only brand who do them for AUII's is Koni, so for the front set im looking at $1800 and $400 for the rear Koni shocks, so all up $2200 will get me what i want!

Does anyone know any other brand or somewhere else i can get what i want?

cheers,
Gonz.

hmmm maybe a 4 link rear so i can fit air bags!!! : ...i wish, cant even get them engineered here in WA!!

Kings used to do a coilover setup for the AU, but not sure if it's still available. Your other option is to buy an adjustable sleeve and weld it to the shock. I've seen these in Street Machine etc, but again no idea where to get them, and how legal/safe they are.

Try whiteline ... I think Fulcrum is there coil-over product name ... not sure if they make them for the ute though ... maybe for the sedan.

Used decked springs in the rear and polybags to bring it back up to drive/use load.

ya got a number for Whiteline??

i had heard of welding the adjusable sleeve to the shock but when i mentioned this to the guys at WA Suspensions he said he wouldnt do it to his own car!! i guess he wasnt a fan saying that the heat generated by the weld would affect the internal seals and the life serviceablity of the shock!

yeh so if anyones got a number that would be great as telstra couldt give me anything when i mention Whiteline???

Pedders do a height adjustable front shock for AU. They're known as the SportsRyder Extreme X series. Pricey though.

ok, ive just got off the phone to all of the above mentioned...

Kingsprings - are on holidays,

Whiteline - couldnt help me,

Wholesale susp - do a TEIN front and rear for $2495 or Koni adjustable set up for $1600 inc rear adjusable shock,

Pedders - do a coil over/non adjustable shock front and a rear for $1458,

Nolathane - their link to coil overs didnt work plus they were on holidays,

West Coast Susp - said they dont deal in passenger vehicles,

Wilkinsons Susp - do a front Koni adjustable for $1000...as for the rear he recomended running an airbag sytem, (i had been told that i needed a 4 link rear to fit air bags, not true apparently), $1000 will get me externally operated air bags, $2000 will get me an internaly operated sytem, inc compressor and fitting!
They will be back on the 2nd of January so ill be poping in too see them and look into the air bag system as it would suit me more for what i want the adjustables for...either way i think ill be dealing with Wilkinsons, thanks for the info yall!

Are airbags legal in WA, most nanny states seem to ban them I think? Would be interesting to know how that system actually rides if you get those!

i dont see there being any problems with the airbag units..
as long as they cant go below 100mm and are only adjustable from outside the cab and while parked or somthing along those lines then you should be right from a legal stand point.. you will also need an engineers certificate!

good luck mate!

WHS!

thats exactly what the guys at Wilkinsons said as far as legality goes, his only concern was that by running air bags with leafs it may bring on some nasty axle tramp. we always gotta sacrifice something dont we! DOH!!

axle tramp can probably be eliminated if you convert to 4link rear with just he airbags.. like most "minitrucks" run

they have some HUGE/powerful motors in them and seem to do fine

but sadly you wont be able to "throw" it thru the twisties with the bags as they arnt exactly a HARD suspension item.. and would be fully inflated to gain some stiffness but then you are sitting in the clouds LOL

good luck mate

by track rods you mean what i think are called tramp rods, they sit under the leaf spring facing forward??
yeh i was thinking that but i think ground clearance will be my enemy, the front leaf spring mount is already been hitting driveways!!

You could also try the "brute ute" setup (call mermaid suspension 'kim' on the gold coast).

Also try and drive a car with coil overs in it before you commit your hard earned. They are a race suspension not a street suspension despite the dealers telling you that you can adjust. Try it 1st, see what you think about ride quality etc.
