first off this quote better be about the badge its self

"Reputedly one of only 12 ever made by Ford Motor Company"

if he is talking about the cars then he has to get his facts in line first. 4 HO where made if my mind serves me correctly :hihi:

$12,000 for a badge? I thought people paying thousands of dollars for number plates was bad enough.

If it is real, it would be a very nice addition to a collection, but I could think of other things to buy for $12,000.

on ebay the guy states that its a console badge.........

ill pull out the video of the QLD Phase 4 cause that shows the owner (the electrician) going through the gears and shows the console.

Did Ford U.S. build any GTHO's (mustangs or something else?) i dont recall

it could so easily of course be a scam but if this were true and it was genuine what price would it hold, so hard to say isnt it?

'Did Ford U.S. build any GTHO's (mustangs or something else?) i dont recall'

i recall some of the 80's mustangs having the tag GTHO but wouldnt know if they had 'GTHO' badges, i think externally they had 'GT' stickers,no 'GTHO' badges as far as i know

My money would be on a fake... Everyone these days are flogging apparently Genuine GT parts.. If we were to go by the amount of gen GT parts on ebay there must of been over 100,000 GT's built!

Its not off the Prototype Phase 4's because they started life as std XAGT's.
IMO Its possible its a prototype Badge that never made it into production and should have been destroyed...

Why would they only make 12 of them? What was the planned initial production run of Phase 4’s – wouldn’t Ford’s supplier make enough for the production run plus a few spare?

Could these have been for prototypes or press cars?

Like all other badges that car companies use they go through a prototyping and pre production sampling phase, id imagine this is just a sample badge that was submitted during the design period, it may or may not have been used had the phase 4 gone ahead, no one seems to know for sure, however in the Ford parts manual the correct badge has an official Ford part number allocated to it, that number isnt on this badge, so id say it may just be a version that wasnt used/approved and someone has souvineered it from the scrap bin before it got destroyed.

And that part number in the parts book is:

XA, All, Handling Option, Unit 1, XA 54 044E96 AA

If you cant prove this number it isnt the part in my opinion.

Not a bad souvenir if that's the case, but no way is it worth 12 grand!
