There's a dude (can't remember his name, search EA2BA) that has made a kit to make the SSS of a BA shifter work in lower series cars, basically it just makes ur existing gearbox use the BA shifter, as opposed to whole BA gearbox.
The BA steering wheel I don't know about. It might be possible to fit one of, but I doubt the buttons on it would work, airbag would be a pain the *** too... That one would be a pretty expensive job I think.. |

BA steering wheel or shifter won't just fit on an AU.
The shifter will if your car is manual |

I've done the conversion too, and have reverted back to standard AU shifter. The SSS shifter doesn't hold 1st gear in an AU because the AU box relies on a mechanical link for first to hold that gear - that solenoids are unable to control it electrovially. Other than that, and cutting up the console, and the trans tunnel, and fabricating a bracket for the cable, and cutting a bloody big hole in the firewall for the cable, and modifying the linkage arm on the gerarbox, it fits and works. As for the steering wheel. Yes, it will physically fit in that the mounting on the steering column is the same, but that's it. The airbags and horn setups are way different - too different to mod them to fit. But you can buy a BA "style" wheel for the AU. In fact I have a GT style wheel in mine. Available through many ebay seelers (or used to be) for around $200, and IMO, far better than a momo wheel. Other BA bits that fit an AU: BA pedals: How to make them fit: http://www.fordforums.com.au/showthr...ghlight=pedals BA Manual shifter (no photos, sorry) BA XR8 Pod filter (with minor mods) BA to BF & Territory brakes - will fit all AU2+. You must change discs and callipers though for the brakes to fit and work. BA Rims BA front springs (and possibly shocks too) And now to the sublime....... BA tyre valves, BA cigarette lighter, BA badges/stickers (but why????), BA fuel, etc, etc

Yes I put the BA shifter in my EA links are in my sig.
JC if the BA wheel fits an AU as you said, then it would also fit EF/EL, so can the clock spring be changed and do some re-wiring, dont care about airbag working or not, as I have an EA with ef/el steering column.

Well i can use a popped air bag and re-pack it, it will be just for filling, so that should make it way cheaper.

Christopher.j you already have a cable setup in the AU so it would not be hard mod for you to do, would require a bit of work in the AU though as from what I have seen the AU handles are riveted on, but nothing is impossible just takes time and effort.

I have a BA header tank in my AU.
Need to change the bottom hose from the header tank to the radiator though. Long story .... but it does fit I have SX Territory parts on my ute as well (wheels).

Actually I don't ... I really should have.
Uses the exact same mounts ... and has the yellow screw cap (120kpa) The position of the larger hose that goes to the lower section of the radiator on the driver's side is in a different position on the header tank. It exits from the front of the tank ... instead of underneath the tank next to the strut tower. I did it to move the LPG converter to fit extractors (thinking they wouldn't fit) ... but I managed to fit them in the end anyway. One good thing about BA header tanks is that they are cleaner than AU one ... : And they don't have an overflow hose (tiny pressure relief hole/valve in the screw cap) Oh ... seeing as the header tank dimension is smaller (slightly) ... I had to get a long hose from the header tank to the top of the radiator as well (the small thin one) ... so i bought a thermostat to header tank hose and cut it down to suit.

With the door handles. I believe AU I's are riveted and AUII & III are screws.
