Well, they say polls amount to little, but the rex is gettin' pumped in both polls. Ugly or not, the Evo is a winner.

This is my first post re 4 bangers, most of the time idgaf.....
Though I do admire how good these pocket rockets go ! but me being a family man with 3 kids they would never come into my garage.

If I had to make a choice though it would be the Evo anyday !

The STI sadly there is no beauty in this beast for me, 80% of them are driven by undesirables you don't even want to make eye contact with is enough to turn me off having one as well.

I agree completley about the STi, however, sad fact is that Evo's are driven by much the same people.

I would never buy either car, but personally I'd choose the STi. Subaru make far superior quality vehicles to Mitsubankrupt and the new 2.5 version has the torque to make Evo's cry. If only we got the full 220kW 400Nm version they got in the USA, rather then out half-a***d 206kW 392Nm effort, the Evo would get slaughtered.

I wouldn't have thought the US market got a 220kW version given their fuel is worse than ours?

Where did you get this info Steff?

And the Japs use the EJ20 as far as I know so I don't think it's a JDM car. Maybe that's just the STi's?

They got a 220kW 2.5 STi in 2003 or something, way before we got the 2.5 engine. And their fuel is not worse then ours, ours is worse then theirs.

US Regular, by US measuring standards = 87 octane
Our 91 RON, by US measuring standards = 86.75 octane

US Premium, by US measuring standards = 93 octane
Our 98 RON, by US measuring standards = 92.25 octane

They also have some servo's that sell higher stuff, 95 and such, by their measuring standard.

As for their STi...

Well there you go. Didn't know that :

Maybe that's why it's cheap to get a US EJ257 short block.

A friend bought her dads new WRX to church the other night and she lets me drive everything It wasn`t much faster than her VTEC Honda Prelude. I was very dissapointed.

STI on the other hand is suposed to make the normal WRX look like a peice of junk

I seriously doubt your friend can drive the WRX properly if you think it is not much faster than a VTEC Prelude. I've blown the doors off many VTECs.

STi is much nicer than the WRX. Off the top of head the differences are

More power
Better turbo
Better I/C
I/C Waterspray
Better suspension
Better bodykit
Better seats and door cards
Built in shift light
Better steering wheel and knob
DEFI instrument cluster (these are the shizzle )
Better wheels
Better tyres
6 Speed DCCD manual (strong box)
Brembos all around.

I'm not sure on mechanical differences though.

It is well worth the extra odd $15k The gearbox alone would be close to making it worth it.

I'm not really into Rexes and Evos but can appreciate they are performance cars. If all things on both cars were equal except the looks I would go an Evo purely because they seem to be a bit rarer (or not as common might be a more correct term!) as the Rex.

As they aren't exactly the same I would need to drive both and read up in the media and internet forums to determine which car suits me better.

They are that close together it really is down to preference. I've seen videos of EVOs getting cained by STis and vice versa.

There are more WRXs but apparently the EVO and STi sales are close. One thread I read they turned out about 500 each in a month (I don't know this as fact).

Considering that this country is predominately powerfull RWD territory that is quite good.

No. I was driving. And yes i know how to drive just fine i been driving since i was 8 i grew up on a farm i can drive just fine thank you very much.

Wouldn`t be telling people they cant drive. Usually means your disapointed with your driving and have to take it out on other people

Yep I only own a WRX but yeah I'm very dissapointed in my driving. Next time don't rev it out to boost/fuel cut and you might go somewhere.

The only stock VTEC that will give a WRX a run with a chance of winning is a S2000, DC2R and possibly a DC5R. Other than that an NSX.

All of those are awesome cars too.

Evo for me... The STI's are always great but the Evo has that harder edge that appeals to the racer in me...

VTEC is off the hook it`s frigin syco. The fact my mate had a 1.6litre VTEC civic. Extractors, $1300 exhaust which made the biggest power increase and a very expensive CAI. He had 17" 235`s on it and on a cold night if you were just driving normal and went into 3rd, put your foot into it and hit the vtec the front wheels would just spin. Thats pretty scary considering its a 1.6 NA 4cyl.

Call them tin cans and what you will. But they will beat most 6`s and alot of 8`s.

If you bag them out you obviously dont know what your talking about

Lol VTEC YO!

A 3 cylinder charade can spin the wheels, dosnt mean its fast. A VTEC Prelude would be lucky to stay in the same suburb as a WRX when both are driven hard and yes I have driven both.
