I have a new LG unit that does, so I often burn AVI files onto CD-R and watch them on my Plasma. The alternate way to watch them (if your DVD won't play AVI files), is to convert the file to DVD format and burn it on DVD using something like Nero 4 (which is brilliant I find). |

Open it with windows media player on your PC
or use a DiVX/MPEG4 capable standalone DVD player But you may be missing codecs for the PC - which help decode the information in the file. I use K-Lite codec pack, found at: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/...Codec_Pack.htm The standard pack should be enough - you don't need to install the windows media player classic. Just make sure DIVX and XVID and MP3 formats are ticked at a minimum

I've assume you want to play it on your DVD player, if you don't and are happy watching it on your PC do the above. I would much rather watch stuff on the Plasma !!! |

Then you may want to look at converting it back to MPEG-2 which is the format DVDs use. I haven't done it myself yet, so I don't know how.

If it is it should play AVI files burnt onto DVD (as datafiles) or CDR (as datafiles). Good luck. If not you'll need to convert the file to DVD video format and Burn it on a DVDR Disc. |

There is software out there that will convert it (InterVideo WinDVD Creator 2 is one of them). Alternately you can stop downloading porn and just buy the DVD's :

If you intend to wish to view a number of AVI files on your DVD player over time, then a Brand name DiVX capable DVD player can be bought for around $150, entry level units for as little as $55. The DiVX picture is more vibrant through my Pioneer DVD player than it is through my PC on the TV.

Just conver them back to mpeg format and copy them onto a dvd, still the best way imo as the mpeg format is compatible on most dvd players, only newer dvd players will play divx or avi's etc. You can download TMPGEnc (TMPGEncoder) for free , totaly freeware , google it. One of the oldest and easiest programs to use for converting an avi back to a mpeg for dvd use. cheers.

Just use Nero...Its straight forward...use Nero Vision Express...it does everything for you...just add the file, and it does the rest...you can even create menus and stuff too....
