I think it depends on whether or not the phone is pre loaded or could be loaded with a phone version internet browser.

I've got a Nokia N70 which came preloaded with the Opera internet browser. I usually read FFAU and another forum on my mobile on the way into the city on the train each day - using GPRS.

Eating dinner in a dodgy Cafe on the outskirts of Brisbane and realised someone had an unsecured network. Surfed my way through half a chook and chips on a wobbly table out the front.

Similar thing here.

Whilst holidaying on the Gold Coast at Christmas I fired up the lappie took a sip of my 4:30AM breakfast coffee (the sun was up, what a stupid concept) and latched onto an unsecured wireless network for a while.

I have sent a post card from here: Jungfraujoch in Switzerland. Also known as The Top of Europe. They have a post office there, and lots of other stuff to relieve you of cash.

Sorry, I though posting meant like sending a letter of all things. I dunno I've "posted" from internet cafe's all over the place. The dodgiest one was upstairs from a laundry in Milan and I was the only person there not typing in Arabic. I found out later I was in the Turkish part of Milan, the kebabs were nice, lol. I would rather listen to Arabic that I can't understand than a whole lot of whining yanks who don't know how to have a private conversation which is what I got in Florence.
