Default Gtp ???

Does anyone else think that this 'GTP' is just a rice XR8 ??

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/2003-Ford-FPV...QQcmdZViewItem

Looks like false advertising to me but make your own mind up - love to hear from someone who lives close to this dealer and can check it out..

Cheers .. love to see some close ups and inside shots if you are keen to take out the camera.

It would be sad to see a licensed dealer selling an XR8 as a GTP ... even if they where unaware, kindof worse really...

I thought that, but I have seen so many posts in here of people wanting to remove XR spoilers etc that anything is possible.

However when I look ed at the side shot it looks like someone has put the GT-P door badges on, but left the XR8 Skirt badges on ??

And those skirts are defiantely not GT...

Actually from what i can see it looks like its genuine. its an 03 model gt-p hence the 7 spoke rims, and the skirts look like gt items to me.

going by the mounting location of the rear spoiler it looks like it would mount in the same position as the gt one... the legs and shape of the end plates tell me it's not an xr one! maybe the previos owner just didn't want a massive rear spoiler- plenty of people are of the same taste?

at this point i'd say it's probably genuine.

Kindof agreed, but still cant work out what is on the skirts in the side shot - cant remember old GTP's having anything there.

And no hump decals ?

really though if the owner wanted to be discrete then wTF buy a GTP ? XR6 Turbo, debadge the Turbo and go see APS .... surely .... or buy a Specced XR8 and go from there....

Maybe I am horse-minded but this is just so wrong.

Actually they did have a small sort of "scoop" just in front of the rear wheel. You can see it an example in the attached pic (which is a BF Force 6 but you get the idea!).

EDIT - Damn FPV8U beat me to it!

Side Skirts have Chrome/silver little flutes in them under the rear door because it's a GT-P, GT's just have them painted the same as the car.

No Decals because bonnet decals were a thing of FPV MKII....

It looks legit.
As far is I know gt strips are optional plus it has gtp rims and brakes and can just see the seats as well.

Good spotting - didnt notice the seats, and on second looks, the rear shot shows the silver surround of the ICC and a bigg enough screen for Premium sound...

I will stand corrected here...... however $49k is probably dreaming fgor something that looks like an XR8

big body kit, big rims, big brakes. but a lame/little rear spoiler. not to mention the big GTP badges.

the GTP's have heaps over the XR8's. in terms of luzury. performance is no diff.

Well most GTP's look like they are different ... this is very plain and remember the price tag on the window....

Its 3 years old after all.

There isnt a huge amount of differance between a fully optioned XR8 and a GTP in my opinion, besides the brakes and 30 kw's, which would be cheaper to do after market anyway, 30 grand extra is alot of money for a GT badge, having said that if money wasnt an issue i would probly go the GT, but for most people money is an issue, and the XR8's are better value for money.

Well apart from the interior, seats, climate control, suspension, engine, wheels, brembo brakes, electronic brake distribution system, bodykit AND the GT-P badge there really is not a lot of difference between a XR8 and a GT-P.

But there is, however, more difference than there is between a XT and a XR8 so the XT must be better value for money.

After all the only reason you would buy a BA falcon is to mod it so you are able to run a 400m almost as fast as a VL commodore isn't it? Doesn't matter what it looks like, how comfortable it is or how safe really does it?

You’ve got that right!!! I’d say around 18 months. He wanted something like $57,000 when it was first advertised.

I’m buggerd if I know why he didn’t keep the original spoiler and just bolt it back on when he wanted to sell it. used:

That looks like a genuine BA 1 GT-P in HgAg. The scoop inserts were also HgAg which is why they are hard to see. The giant tail has been replaced with a more "unboyracer" one which I have seen before (as well as having it removed completely).

It looks like my old GT-P other than colour and the tail. The majority of GT-Ps of that time did not have stripes as the original stripes were a bit ordinary and it was all a bit "new". I specifically did not order stripes because the only example available was the phantom GT with orange stripes "P" build and it was UGLY.
Decals, badges and bigger wheels were all on later models.

If it is a fake then the owner has spent a fortune as it has gen wheels, brembos, all the genuine badging and if it was owned by a wannabe faker then why does it not have the GT-P tail, one of the easy fake parts to get?
Fakes are usually over done with wrong stripes, wheels, badges etc and standard brakes painted red.

Real! Who would waste more money by doing up a XR8 when by the time they did it, the GT cost less!!! :

Got a GTP in Winter White I had it for 7 months and havent thouched it not even the air filter just love it to death.
Being an 03 model it hasnt got boss 290 on the bonnet and no pod gauges it lookes like a xr8 from the front to the untrained eye so much so that on the way to the FPV weekend in Melbourne in febuary while listening to the cb most truckies thougt I was a copper.
