I enjoy his music for what it is, REAL music. Not the marketing synthesized music that makes up most of the mainstream and commercial market.
It's good to see a few real musicians can still make it in this market. I've got a few of his earlier CD's. Great to relax and listen too. |

I got this ages and ages ago and thought it was very funny.....don't like John Butler, lol...
NEWS John Butler Trio adds to tsunami suffering The tsunami crisis worsened last night, when unpopular folk group the John Butler Trio performed at the WaveAid concert, sweeping away scores of concert goers in a tide of self-righteousness and shitty music. "When the tsunami occurred, we called for Australians to show compassion and take some time for sombre reflection" said James Cassidy of the Australian Red Cross. "But at no point did we call for a twat in a tea cosy to subject the public to forty minutes of hippie roots music." John Butler, however, has denied that his involvement in the concert was unwelcome. "Charity events are my chance to give something back, and I always enjoy playing to an audience, even if they have come to see other acts and pelt me with rubbish." Shannon Tennant was one of those who witnessed the tragedy unfold. "There was a strange calm after the first song - it was eerily peaceful. The only sound was of people leaving. Then you got a terrible sense that Butler was going to attempt a ham-fisted analogy about a wave of inequality swamping the world every day. And sure enough, he managed to tie the tsunami to the war in Iraq, the hole in the ozone layer, greedy big business, and his son Banjo." "I was powerless to do anything about it. I got a real sense of what people who saw the first wave coming must have felt." The performance is Butler's seventh appearance at a charity benefit this month, which the star ascribes to his social conscience, and the fact that no promoter will pay him to appear. John Butler: also had the crowds fleeing in terror

Good on him for opening peoples eyes and actually playing for the music, not the money. Won't find many musicians like that out there in the mainstream. |
