I once said that "I would never buy another Ford again ever",..... I sold my Zetec and then went out and bought a new Lancer VRX.
Well, 5 months on, I have now sold the VRX and gone back on my word and bought a new Colorado Red XR4. I missed the Fez too much.... :yeees: I would look back at pics of my Zetec and think "why did I sell that car, what an idiot", it was such a nice car. It's the old thing, "you dont know what you've got until you dont have it" Dont get me wrong the Lancer was a nice enough car, but that was it, "it was a nice car", it did everything asked of it but to me it was somehow "characterless", it had no quirks or substance about it, .......almost like it had no soul or personality, it was another typical Jap/Korean econobox out there on the road amongst all the other many thousands of other econoboxes, nobody ever really took any notice of it, it didn't turn heads, it was just another "painted box" amongst all the other painted boxes, it was nothing special.........I was not used to this reaction after owning the Fez for the previous year. The Fez used to turn heads, it was something "different", it looked good on the road and there were not very many about, people would stare at it when I stopped at the lights and want to "check it out". So here are some pics of what I am getting, I pick it up early next week, probably Tuesday morning, "cant wait to get back in the saddle!!"... Rob. |

Welcome back Rob to the hot hatch scene!
Great choice on the colour too. My only two preferences on the XR4 - Red or White.

was gonna get a blue one but a telstra dude ran into it and they only had a red one left so we got that..
i LOVE the car..goes alot better than the zetec..has alot of power too, well enough for me, seeing as im a leadfoot - wouldnt want anything with more go really coz i'd be in trouble HAHA 1st gear is really short compared to the zetec, and its really good going up hills, can go up hills in 5th, overtake cars in 5th without having to shift back to 4th.. some dude in an xr6 got the shits today coz i kept up with him in an overtaking area on the highway..didnt wanna let me past either |

I'm extremely jealous, seeing as I'm stuck with my "pretend XR4". : :P

Good move. Fiesta Zetec -> Fiesta XR4 would've been easier on the old wallet without the Lancer VR-X in between... but its good you saw the light!

I paid 24,500 for the VRX, spent $2500 on wheels for it and sold it for $23,000 so effectively lost $4000 that I could have otherwise spent on the XR4!!!.... Had the XR4 for 2 days now and it's fantastic!! It is such an "angry little car", so much spirit and bark to it, like a "Fox Terrier" ready to take on anything twice it's size, it just "growls" at everything else on the road.......the exhaust note is just "to die for". I was a bit hesitant about getting a Colorado Red one but "in the flesh" it just looks so awesome, the pictures do not do it justice at all, it's a real deep red colour, so glad I went with it now. Going to order some Eibach's for it early next week from Euro Parts once my PayPal account is set up and organise some MEP Ultimate tint for it that I used to have on the Zetec. Extremely happy with the XR4, everything I had hoped for.........and yes, it does get a lot of attention on the road, whereas the VRX barely raised an eyebrow or second glance the XR4 just screams and demands attention......."and gets it" in large doses,..... this is a great car!!.... :hihi: |
