hey fellas, sympathy seriously with the back pain, can start to ruin your life. I am currently working in the health field and have a background in rehab/exercise prescription. Here's some tips for you:
a. don't automatically think physio's are the bees knees, and conversly dont write off chiro's, they both serve a purpose. Physio's primarily work with muscles and their function, therefore back strains/muscle weaknesses are well served. Chiro's focus on the skeleton, and are great if the problem is a dislocated/subluxed vertebrae/rib. b. another option is an osteopath. Osteo's are basically a chiro and physio in one (very generalised definition!!) and can work with both the skeleton and muscles in one. Very useful when you are unsure of the cause. c. strengthening and stability are very important. Core stability is much more important than a six pack, as the stability muscles are predominantly deeper. Yoga/Pilates/Swiss Ball exercises and generally trying to maintain good posture (Im 6'5 so know how hard this is) through the day. d. exercise- swimming and hydrotherapy are great due to being non-weightbearing.(this is where physio's are excellent), plus trying to stretch or change position every half hour to hour when at work if possible. e. if still in doubt, get your feet checked out by a podiatrist, who can look at the way you wallk/run/stand. Incorrect foot positions (especially too much rolling in) can rotate the legs and hips and place extra pressure on the back muscles. Hope this helps at least one of you, but the most important thing to remember is there is no one answer, and fixing back pain takes a lot of self-work too, not just relying on specialist treatment. My back is now sore from sitting down and typing!!!!! |

justy a reminder not to lift too much weight . my back is quite strong . but my stomach popped out a hernia . , was agony , and surgury was worse . took 2 years for strength to return to normal. i'm over being strong now .
i'm sure hurting your back would be worse . and a life time of worry and suffering , with degeneration . nobody needs it. |

The "LATEST WONDER DRUG" is called "LYRICA" for Back & Muscle Pain . IF the Doctor tries to give it to you "DON'T TOUCH IT" . It was given to me for muscle pain last Mar/Apr , I took it for 23 days and still have 2/3 the Side Effects 8 months later . The Specialist said "Only Minimal Side Effects" Try this for size when I researched it :-
--------------------------------------------------------------------- Lyrica Fluid Retenton All have it in varying degrees , one guy went from 110lb to 185lb in 6 months ( I was 53-54 kg's for 25 yrs , in 6 weeks I was 76 kg's and can't get rid of it ) 2/3 Appitite huge increase 1/3 loss of appitite , but still put on weight . 8/10 got slight relief from it , but over 2/3 have stopped due to side effects . Most common Dry Mouth Lack of concentration Confusion Feeling “Foggy” all the time Turned aggressive Swollen feet ( I can only wear Ugg boots , shoes don't fit ) Can’t stay awake , ( short sleeps 1 hr to 3 hrs , 24 hrs a day ) Severe Depression (All) A couple of patients contemplated Suicide !!!!! Eyesight problems (Most) I still can't read without a magnifying glass , sometimes even to see the computer monitor Instead of “pain peaks” , constant pain at lower level Severe Bruising for no reason . Short term memory loss . Don't know what time of day or night it is . Balance problems ..Most describe as being “Drunk” “Flu like” symptoms . Wheezing Distended Belly. ( I went from 73cm to 107 )... and the list goes on ....: ------------------------------------------------------------------ The cure is worse than the original complaint Just Google "Lyrica - side effects" Quote:

I think this says it all ... Pregabalin, marketed by Pfizer as Lyrica, is a prescription medication used to treat back pain , neuropathic pain in people with diabetes (DPN) and shingles (PHN) and as an adjunct therapy for people with partial seizures. After a long battle for FDA approval, the agency finally approved Lyrica in December 2004 I know this is American , but it's here now ,,, Norm
