Unhappy What Have You Broken ????

Just reading through the pages of those who have been blessed with the Destruction BUG : I thought it mite make for some good reading to see what we have all had explode on our chariots over the years and why it EXPLODED in the first place so coming from a long line of never die wondering family heres my list so far
in the begining XW panel Van owned for 12 years 3 motors the 1st died a natural death the 2nd threw a rod at 5 days old ..no warranty on worked motors : the 3rd .. meh big right boot 3 diffs 4 gear boxes .
then there was a lot of $100 rockets along the way with 3 Minis that all seemed to have clutch issues :
a XT fairmont I couldn"t kill it just rusted away along with a XB went the same way a 351 XY ute 2 gear boxes there in 12 months (stupid autos) a ED 5 speed Futura more clutch issues (Mmm begining to see a pattern here ) a XE Spak just to boring to my first brand new car (and last) AU11 XR8 ... yeah all rite clutch issues again gear box (heh Warranty that one ) still waiting for the next failure there .. come to think of it the only ones that didn"t cost me money or blood sweat & tears were the 3 dead stockers XT,XB,XE maybe next time I mite leave them alone .... NOT : Just carn"t wait to see what I can fire out from under the Cortina when it hits the track :togo: Cheers

Just on my last car,
blew up a TKO600 twice,a 9" diff,
dropped a valve fixed that, then chopped a cam lobe,
To top it all off it finally snapped the crank in 3 pieces, and didnt that make a mess..

Broke 16 C4 autos in my XD (Over 17 years).
Broke only one diff in that time.
Clutch come appart at 6000 rpm and killed Toploader, 351 motor, extractors,
brake lines, bonnet.
Wiped 16 lobes on new motor a few years ago, which destroyed motor.

So pretty good run really, as i am HARD on parts, and the caining started on the XD when i was 17

a 4 speed auto gearbox in a stock EA!

I've also broken 2 front bumpers (3 if you include the one I pulled apart), 2 headlights, 2 bonnets, 1 side skirt (after dropping a set of extractors on it before putting it on the car), and something inside the engine which causes it to almost sound supercharged. It's been doing it for well over 12 months now so it can't be too major. Also my LSD diff now thinks it's a single spinner.

Broken a 5spd in my 91 barina to the point where i had to kick the gear stick with some major force to get it out of gear.

blown a xf diff to the point where everything inside was on the bottom of the diff housing.

my 89 vn commie i blew the injectors all six at the same time and i had dent marks on the bonnet from where they all hit it, also its air box was no longer in on piece rather in 200 pieces.

ive blown my mates 186 with a piston through the block.

my 83 gj sigma copped a hiding once but only managed to blow bothe tyres.

my 78 sigma motor now sold to my mates still blows tyres to the point of no tomorrow.

I like the way Kev did his so....

First Car - 1988 VL Wagon
1x Head and gasket
2x Diff - one stocker and one from a Turbo
4x Auto trans - they all sucked
Many other little things, the thing was rubbish

Second Car - 1997 EL GLi Sedan
1x Auto trans
4x T5 - Blew the same one twice but admittedly 3 were EA T5's
1x Diff
1x Head gasket
1x engine
A fair few other things but it did have 465,000k when I sold it. Was a good car.

Current - The XR8
1x Engine - Cyl 8 went bye bye so that meant I needed a stroker, really it did!
Lots of tyres - Something to do with the stroker I believe.
Nothing else really worth mentioning. I replace bits because I want to and it goes well. Very good car.

I would say that these guys would be the type of drivers that show sfa mechanical sympathy, and drive the cars at 10/10ths frequently.

I too give my cars heaps, but as yet, have not had a major failure that has resulted in catastophy. had untold amounts of small problems tho.

I've broken heaps of things. I once destroyed the Hopper Knocker 5 poster bullbar on my ute. I've broken diffs and gearboxes. I've broken various bones (Right knee cap, Right wrist twice, Various fingers and toes). I've broken various pushbikes when I was a young tacker trying to impress the local girls by tring silly stunts. I broke a television cabinet by putting firecrackers in it (I did the same thing to a letter box once too).

Hrmmm
1st car , broke nothing
2nd car, broke nothing
3rd car . XB Goss special: 3 diffs ( last one within a week of going in, snapped the end of the axle off ) Clutches but nothing else... still not bad for a stocker.
numerous cars
4th car of note: XB GT sedan. 12 uni ( one lasted 3 hours ) 2 clutches, 3 pushrods, around 12 engine mounts ( got good at doing them ! ) plus various other things.
numerous cars
XA: engine mount, head gasket, screw in stud, push rod but surprisingly little else .. probably from spending so much time idle.
Sprint .. broke the steering column at winton ! Pulled out of the bearing in the firewall and made all the electronics die .. that was fun but thankfully didn't find out till the trip home.
BA XR8 - 3 clutches, 1 axle, 1 diff, 1 engine mount and counting !

Blew the gearbox in my TX5. Haven't blown anything in my WRX yet and hopefully it stays that way because it's going to be way too expensive
