I have an AU3 wagon and when you turn the aircon on, the motor dies...its almost like theres an electrical short in the aircon that robs the engine of spark without blowing a fuse.
Before we realised the connection between the two, there was a burning smell on one occasion when it happened, as if there were wires overheating and melting the insulation. Can anyone suggest a possible cause/ place to look first? |

describe cuts out, does the engine seem to struggle and then die, almost like stalling, or just cuts out entirely?

Problem is solved thanks
Compressor was seized, When aircon was turned on, clutch engaged, locked pulley, belt screamed to a halt and stopped the engine..... Smell must have been belt burning the one time I did it at revs and engine didn't stall immediately.......all other times it was at idle and motor stopped. I've removed the wiring plug to avoid mishaps in the short term, but will fit a new compressor soon. Thanks again guys |
