Default new exhaust fitted today!!

well i got my new 2.5" sports exhaust fitted today (AU3 SR) after noticing the original was rusted out while fixing the diff.

just though i would post a quick message to say how stoked i am with the result. it has a nice note and doesn't drone at cruising speeds (my main request was no drone).

i can't recommend Danny at Toronto Exhaust Centre (newcastle area 02 4950 4304) highly enough. i have had 3 exhausts done by him over the last 7 years or so and i have been really happy with them all.

i'll try to get a recording of the car soonish and try to figure out how to get it on the webernet.. what have other's used to record their exhausts? do mobile phone's work well enough?

now just have to wait for my mags to arrive and i'm on my way to giving the wife a pimped out mum's taxi...

quick question for you guys..

would the computer have to 'learn' the new exhaust? it's only cat back but i noticed the car was idling low on the way home - or maybe cause it was the first hot day with air con on.

yes and no
tyechnically seen no, BUT due to changed flow parameters it can upset the ecu a little as it has gotten "used" to the old system (as in flow capacity), so if you do have some difficulties such as idle, pinging or the similar and ecu reset would not be a wrong thing to do.

try recording the exhaust note on your phone and then upload it to say photobucket. Post the direct link from the uploaded file from photobucket to the forums.

cheers fellas.

i haven't reset the ecu myself, i just noticed the car was idling funny when i picked the car up. i'll see how it goes with the next few drives.

i'll try the mobile phone when i get a chance

and more good news. the new (to me) ba xr8 18's were dropped off to me bright and early this morning, now to get a tyre or 3 to suit and i'll be happy until the springs need to be lowered...
