Default routers are great. good for spyware bloking

ever since installing one to control wireless around the house and my cable net.

ive noticed less crap getting on my pc, just ran a few spyware programs after bout a month or so of not running any. with a result of 2traces!!!

also fordforums is not leaving much residue in my pc hehe

Router are the cornerstone of internet security. Next question have you enabled WPA or WEP on your wireless links and changed the default passwords, without that its not hard to be on the other side of your router.

would be better to run a small VPN WEP is weak

Its weak for sure, but nowhere near as weak as the plethora of open connection with standard passwords. And you can enable it without changing hardware. most of the small routers wont even cop VPN passthru.
