How accurate is the DTE reading in these cars?
Reason being that I was running gas yesterday, after just sticking petrol in the ute and notcied that the counter was going down, and I wasn't even using petrol.

I dont take any notice of it. All it uses is an average which is very easy to fool. I go by the actual guage when I'm running low, its far more accruate.
I have once run out of fuel with 69kms on the DTE still.. another time I drove well over 5kms with DTE on 0.

yea , i dont trust it. At 25-30 DTE my car started to splutter (about to run out). Lucky for me i was within 20 seconds of a servo...

My DTE's accurate as. It depends whether you are switching from styles of driving much. I.e. going from Highway -> City driving, the DTE is gonna fall quickly.
I've had my DTE down to about 8 once, and still all good.

yep likewise LG, I think I have risked it even as low as 6, scares the crap out of me but I try to use as much out of the tank as possible.
This is only done around Sydney I wouldn't risk it out on the open road.

I had mine down to 20, but didn't wanna test my luck and I wasn't sure on accuracy.

I know it's a bit naughty but I have had it down to 0 (zero) and still had enough to get to a petrol station.
Didn't intend on getting it that low but my usual stations where closed or shut down at the time!! |

Mine is good, have been down to about 15km to empty and then filled up with about 58 litres.
I like the DTE on the open road where in the first part of a long journey it goes up and up. On one trip I went Sydney canberra Sydney (two sets of lights in Sydney) and got it up to 800km when cruising between 105 to 115 kph. |

Mine work's fine, as the number's come down, it get's more acurate, how do I know you ask, because when I fill up I check the millage and with what the DTE tell's me and how many klm's I can do, they are pretty acurate.

Had mine don to 0 and drove a few kays, so I guess the accuracy is questionable.

Mine's pretty on par with LG's and BD's. When the yellow light comes on (10 litres or less left in tank) the DTE has always consistently been around the 80-90 km's city driving. Mine uses just over 11 litres per 100 km, so based on that that's roughly the distance I'd get to empty.
On the highway over a long distance (say en-route to Melbourne on the Hume) with a full tank getting it up into the high 800's and into the 900's is a common occurrence. Freaks out whoever I have as co-driver as well too!

They are an average estimation gauged on recent driving conditions : , not to be trusted unless you like to go for long impromptu walks. :

i had a long country cruise once and on a full tank my au did well over 580kays and the DTE was about 70kays!! i didnt risk it, and fueled up!

i ran mine to 3 last week... still all well... so i would assume mine is pretty well spot on, had it under ten twice before.. so i cant complain.

Both my dash and DTE arent that great. I will hit 350 km of city driving and the needle with be in the smack bang in the red, my DTE will be about 75-102 most times and no fuel light in sight. I think it may need adjusting if thats possible.

You could post your life to it. Several times I have left mine go to 0 to empty, as I only use Premium, and a servo does not have it. Never run out of fuel, but had a splutter after the 0 dte comes up. Always get 600 City and +750 highway per tank. What a Car!!!

I have my DTE in single fugures Monthly i would say and sometime even less then that.
Never had any problem running out, just the dam thing drinks more then i do, if i could fix that i would be a happy man.... |

Mine goes up and down .... and then the guage goes dead empty (if i hit the brakes hard) .... but i suspect i have an earthing issue with it though ... my tank gauges are reading correctly though ... but it fluctuates all of the time ... it's rare that it reads correctly.
I had driven 550km the other week ... and it said I had 440km DTE ... on an EGAS motor ... I think not ... and the guage was reading 3/4 full. I checked my tanks and found i was nearly empty.
