Hey all,
Now i'm new to the whole Drag Racing thing here.. And i'm really after getting some numbers for my XR.. Any tips for launching the 4Spd Auto? In a BA XR6 With a few simple mods? (See sig.) I'm not after massive numbers, and i'm not hoping to break records, but for a bit of a fun night out, and to quell some curiosity, I wouldn't mind giving it ago? Tips? When should I shift? Is it as simple as stomping and steering? Thanks all. |

Nice questions and the only answer is to try it out. Test shift points to see what is best. Launch RPM is the same. Most people will hold the car on the start line slightly below the stall point of the convertor and nail it on the last amber light. Most drag strips have Test and Tunes were you can run as much as you like.

When stock i always left it in performance mode but self shifting. On the line i had the brake pressed hard and the accelerator all the way to the floor. Release brake on the last amber and let the car do its thing

Fit a BIG trans cooler.. First few runs could just try leaving it up to auto to change gears.. 1st to 2nd comes up real quick...
Good luck...
