Default 1999 LTD interior parts

Just enquiring cant seem to find much infomation but i own a 1999 au fairmont ghia and noticed in the LTD it has woodgrain inserts on the rear aircon housing and also on the rear drink holders in the arm rest. I just looked at my plain black plastic ones today and thought it would dress the interior up a fair bit, does anyone know if i could get these off ford or somewhere?

Or would it work out cheaper just to send my parts to the dashboardcentre (your sites sponser) to get them changed to woodgrain, anyone got any ideas on pricing for that?

Thanks!
Sean

Just got a price from dashboard centre to get my original parts done in woodgrain (aircon housing in rear and rear drink holders like the ltd) they said it would cost $350 for both, does anyone think i could just buy some cheaper by just asking a wrecker if they had an ltd. I think 350 is a bit rich for them just to be dipped in some special paint thats all, but maybe im wrong

Thanks
Sean

LTDs werent sold as much as the Ghia's so they will be harder to find at wreckers but not impossible. Ring all around australia as these parts can be easily shipped. They are bound to be cheaper.

If thats the guy in Croydon he says his workmanship is guaranteed.Try getting him to fix it up if your not happy with it. His workmanship is very average. Would not deal with him again.

I personally would go with dashboard centre if you want it done mainly because the cost of those parts new from Ford will make you feel dizzy.

On top of that you have a very slim chance of finding them from wrecked bits and then youre running the risk of them being in crap condition etc.

Only trouble is though, that when I enquired about doing a similar thing before and matching it to AU Factory spec woodgrain parts, I was told it's pretty much impossible to get an exact match, so you're going to end up with 2 different lots of woodgrain in the car if you get me.

I personally would get the genuine Ford ones if you can. As most of these guys that do the fake graphite & woodgrain take ages to do the work & most times it does not match up or because of the thickness in the paint gauges or vent & holders won't fit & you have to file to fit them yourself.

they can do a close match. The LTD woodgrain may be different to your fairmont woodgrain anyhow.

Try & find someone that has had work done by them on interior parts & is happy with the workmanship. Good saving of $130 over the other guy that renegs on his warranties.

i'm pretty sure these were optional on fairmont ghia's too.. but very very rare to find. Do ford still sell them?

Satnav optional on Fairmont/Ghia/Lane/LTD so any of these models could have that part fitted.

It is still available new though, well,it was when i checked at the start of the yr anyway.

I know this is an old thread, but I'd just like to reiterate that Modicoat does crap as well.
