hey guys im a bit unsure as to why i've had only 2 texts about my car and its been for sale for about a month.
both texts were for trades. i started @ 11K then went down to $9,900 then down to 7,500 and now is sitting at 7 and i've had very little interest. and advice would be amazing. here is the car sales add http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?__Qpb=true&tsrc=allcarhome&__Ntk=CarA ll&Cr=6&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_PriceSort _Decimal|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String| 0&R=10235815&seot=1&__Ntt=FORD%20FALCON%202002&sil o=1011&__sid=12F15B1DB160&keywords=FORD%20FALCON%2 02002&__D=FORD%20FALCON%202002&SearchAction=N&trec s=11&__Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&__N=1216%201282% 201622%204294966285%204294966272&__Nne=15&__Dx=mod e%20matchany |

everyone is poor and cars arent worth diddly.
price seems fair to me, maybe a little high, but still worth looking at edit, maybe the ts front is making people think its not a genuine xr? |

To be honest, the front bar isnt doing you any favours.
It screams "the car has been crashed". Either make the car all XR or all TS - not a bit of this and the rest of that - doesnt look good at all. Also, your description isnt helping you either. You say the car is great on fuel, you got to Melbourne on 1 tank - if its that great, why are you downgrading to a smaller car? And to say that youd rather 'downgrade' than to keep your 'pride and joy', doesnt say too much about the AU. Is it a POS - is that why youd rather drive something worse than the car you have? Your sending mixed messages. It really isnt important if its your pride and joy either, it isnt important that you've downgraded either. Just touch up the description abit and see how it goes. |

i like the front bar and thats why i brought it but now i want a WRX they handle better and will suit what i want to do alot more.
the car is far from a POS just a different stage in my life now. i shall edit it and see how we go. thanks for the advice. i wont covert the car XR or TS would cost heaps. but yes its been front chopped :( only small wasn't what i was told when i was sold it tho. would it be worth stating its had a front chop? and maybe a photo of the vin plate stating its an XR 6? |

You have alot of info that seems to be aimed at different markets.
Seeing as it's an XR6, try and sell it to a p-plater looking for a nice car. It's a manual, with an exhaust, lowered and body kit- pretty much what p-platers want in a car. Get some cool looking photos to draw their attention, then stress the points hard, like 'great first car' manual', 'lowered', 'extractors', 'cheap insurance' etc etc. Idk might be another way to go, I know when I was looking at cars I had my eye on a few AU's. You can say it's not bad on fuel but it's not a deal breaker.

Ring your local Road Transport Authority and ask them to check to see if its Inspected Write Off or if it has been Written off at all. And yes, if its been crashed, it will be worth less again. |

BA XR6's can be had for only a couple of $k's more. if you want to shift it, probably $5k is where it's at......Sad as it is, for what look like a good car.

A quick check on VIC ROADS tells me it's a 1996 (???) BLUE FORD FALCON SEDAN.
It's not written off and there is no encumbrance. If I was in the market, I would buy it as I prefer the look of your car over an AU XR. Do you have to sell it within a certain time frame or can you hold out for a buyer (someone will come along if you wait) ?

In S.A, you need the VIN as well to do the check - which is why the owner should check it out for himself. |

just looking on car sales you can pick up a fairly clean looking ba for $7500, there`s no shortage of good used cars on the market, its a tuff sell every where i think unless you have a really exceptional unit.

The suggestions about wording are spot on - don't put anything in the ad that can be turned "negative". There is no need to tell a buyer anything that is not specifically asked - just say the front bar was already done when you purchased it and say exactly the same as what the guy who sold it to you did.
The problem is AUs (even the best ones like XR6s) are getting older and the price you can ask is a direct reflection of this. If you do need to move it on quickly you may have to sacrifice it for around $5k. |

I was lucky to sell my XR6 VCT for $7k 3 years ago. I had next to no bites on it back then.
Now 3 years later, im finding myself having to sell my XR8 220 for nearly the same price, just to make it more competitive than the other onslaught of them for sale. It sucks big ones. |

Doesn't help when BA XR6s can be had these days from 7-11k.
As others have said, cars are worth nothing and no-one has money anymore.

Unfortunately for you falcons arent worth anything. I picked up a 5sp eb xr6 for $500 this weekend. It sucks, but thats the way it is.
I luckily got in just before everyone didnt want them and sold a S1 auto with bolt ons for 6K. Need to either be a lot cheaper or have something special to sell it. $5K though it should go pretty quick. Put it on gumtree and ebay aswell. |

the front is killing it as long as it has that front it isn't an XR6 as far as selling it is concerned regardless what the plate says. the XRs had a very distinctive front and AU XR buyers want the Quad headlight front so you are loosing your target market.
even if it is a plated XR you really have to price it like a tarted up futura at the most or it won't sell. another point is firberglass doesn't sell well it is brittle and a PITA, I know I have a fiberglass XR50 front bar and often regret going that way

i've not had any issues with my front bar other then what i've done to it. when it came off for glassing and repainting it didn't even twist
i perhaps am silly but i dont see how the front stops it being an XR but i am more about go then show. |

As I said the AU is quite distinctive compared to the rest of the range removing the quad light front has removed all the buyers who buy an XR for the look which is most of them. you wanted to know why it isn't selling well thats the reason you have lost most of your target market

i dont think your car isnt an xr6 anymore either day-mow
just because you changed the front bar to a better looking one and removed the ugly bug eyed headlights doesnt stop the car being what it is despite what others say only die hard falcon/AU guys are even going to know the difference and most only carry on about the au xr headlights because they are **** in their thinking about these kind of things anyway from what ive experienced most people will agree with your styling taste in deliberately moving away from that look, the same as ford did when moving on with the B series... but as most people have said unfortunately cars arent selling much lately, its not just you its happening to everyone - but that doesnt mean there arent people out there with cash who are buying them, it just means you need to advertise better and be more patient get a good sized for sale sign on the car itself even if its just a sticker in the back windscreen and get it on all the websites selling cars that you can, definitely get some better pics then the ones that you have now and perhaps even find someone to write you up a better spiel about the car cheers mate and good luck with the car |
