This will make it even harder for them to shift the paddocks full of standard XR6's they have sitting around.

And here Ford are advertising the regular XR6 as of late. I know its in a move to shift the excess off their lawns, driveways, parking lots, fridges & broom cupboards, but if theyre going to release a limited model they probably should be getting the word out on that instead.

Yep will make standard xr6's cheaper...
The ute looks good, sedan looks pretty basic compared to xr50. |

Expect something like this to become almost the standard XR6 come FGII.
Holden have their 'Thunder' (and an excellent commercial to go with it), but Ford have nothing to match it. I think this will do quite well.

They must be trying to get rid of some FPV police spec wheels!! Knowing Ford in their wisdom they will build 2000 sedans and about 200 utes... :S |

Looks good. Now if they did this sort of upgrades for the FPV GS ute I might have to slip down and have a look...

Dunno it might just be me but I reckon the F6 wheels on the ute make it look very 'cheap'.

Ute's are normally a few k cheaper than sedans yeh?
given xr6's are 34500 drive away on old stock an xr6 with leather and colour screen for 30k (manual) would be very tempting. Alas I wouldn't be able to bring myself to sell the v8 for a NA6.

This is something like I have been waiting for in a ute!
I was looking for something a little bit extra than a standard xr6 ute and I started my search for a ute just after the xr50 utes sold out. IMHO, SV6 Holden utes have that little bit of extra stuff (that appeals to me) over the standard xr6 ute (holden being a little dearer on average). To my way of thinking, this should at least match it. Would be better if the 5 year warranty continues on these but I would doubt it, Ford still needs that little carrot clear the old stock. Could it be possible that these vehicles are dorment stock and have had these extra things replaced in them at the factory? |

How so?
Ford have a great product but they do need to lift the standard equipment a little. Many people buy Holden / Fords on comparisons... At the moment every equivalent holden is better equiped! FG2 will need. XT - Side impact airbags - Rear park assist - Upgraded screen - Should have country pack option - Should have factory bullbar option XR6 - 18 inch wheels standard - colour screen standard - rear park assist - side curtain airbags - country pack option with 17 inch wheels, stiffer springs - nudge bar / bullbar option XR6 T / XR8 5.0 - 19 inch wheels standard - Premium sound standard - Side curtain bags - Dual zone - Rear camera - Side indicators in the mirrors / Turbo badge on the guard. G6E - 18 inch wheels standard - Front park assist - Rear dvd G6ET / G8E 5.0 - 19 inch wheels standard - Front park assist - Rear DVD - GPS touch screen standard - Projector Xenon standard. That includes dropping the G6, or possibly making the G6 the new entry level car based on its current spec, with an upgraded screen. |

Im currently in NZ and saw an ad for the ute on local tv, its an all blacks themed ute here and goes with the all blacks fiesta that ford NZ have come up with. They have a whole website built around the association with the All blacks
https://www.ab35.co.nz/ Marketing of the ford range here seems superior to back home, and i haven't seen a holden ad since i arrived.

Well anything to get some sales going, I agree though the 50th anni was a more compelling setup.
Good thing people buy FPV's for their exclusivity... how do they still have so much stock of a BA rims sitting about?

The tooling would be the cost, if they still had that then it should be no problem to simply do more runs as they need them surely. I like the early F6 rims, and I wish that FG FPVs came with 18s instead of fashion police 19s.

Personally I think the colour screen, dual zone, rear park assist and curtain airbags should be standard spec fitment. Higher spec models can have stuff like tri-zone climate control, the touch screen from the Territory, voice control, adaptive cruise, parking cameras and so forth.

Heres a pic of one of these new cars...
Just has the standard XR leather, premium sound, 18" Turbo wheels, reverse sensors, limited edition badge like the TS LE Territory, grey coloured bar inserts / grills and no FALCON badge, kinda like Holden lost the Commodore badge.. My bet is series 2 will only have XR badges! |

Not bad, but they will need more standard kit come FG2. Days of trickling new stuff out is gone. Still I wouldn't mind if Ford shipped a few of these spec cars to FPV to be made into the GS. The GS badly needs more standard equipment.

I don't like the sedan option at all. Its basically the povo Xr6T spec. Xr6T with No turbo...
Got an sms from Thompson Ford yesterday "Ford Half Yearly sale XR6 Sedan's $34990 with Free Auto and 2k cash back." Not bad.

They could give me $34990 cashback and I still would buy off them. They would have to be the biggest pack of morons to sell the Ford product. |
