Kind of like a friend I had when I lived there, he used to work for Chrysler, and apparently in their good times a new Valiant would roll of the line every 3 mins.
So he'd tell all his mates to buy a Valiant and keep him in a job for another 3 mins!

I really don't think that the majority of people that are upset over this care where the the car was made, it's more about the principle.

Politicians are well paid, they are well reimbursed for their time and effort with many perks. The Government fleet of vehicles are there for the Ministers use for his/her work commitments. The vehicles have been chosen using a criteria, the Minister should follow that criteria.

If they don't like it, move on.

Who cares what car some Polly drives. I wish my biggest problem in life was worrying about what car other people drive.

The federal and all state governments should buy local where practical(only when a local vehicle is not suitable for the purpose), even if they are Cruzes or Camry's, I doubt there is an Australian made car in the Queensland government fleet(not including police)

I don't think a Prado is necessary for transport in any major city, an aussie made 2wd Territory has enough seats and is much cheaper too
