A workmate of mine was telling me this morning about an article in his local paper about a Landau which was stolen in his local area, the suggestion being it was stolen to order.
The story is it belongs to a young guy and it was his Grandfathers car. It's a '74 Landau, Grey in colour. Stolen from the Woodend area. That's all the information I have. A google search has not found any links to the article or any other info. I've asked my colleague if he can find me a link. Does anyone know of this or heard anything??? To our car enthusiast Brothers and Sisters, keep your eyes open and let's see if we can find this Landau. And I hope the karma bus runs over the culprits.......

Given its in the Macedon Ranges I'm surprised everyone didn't know what was going on before the car thief did, rumour and speculation travels faster than light out here. |

With the amount of Landaus around ..... and with the likes of George and Jon knowing where almost the daily goings on of all Landaus in OZ, you would think it would be a hard task to do anything with it! It would be a case of someone wanting to make 1 good one as you couldn't move it on very easily!

You would even struggle doing that I think. 1450(ish) built. Most wrecked for parts to make mock GTs. There isn't that many cars left. Where does a new one appear out of nowhere from?

I detest car thieves. And thieves in general, but particularly car thieves. Unfortunately as we all know, there's still money to made in stripping them out. :(
I hope it's found safe and undamanged.

My colleague brought in the article from his local Woodend newspaper so I can clear up a few details. The car was actualy stolen from a property between Broadford and Pyalong between 18th - 21st August. This Landau is Silver with Brown interior, no vinyl roof and has Cragar type wheels. Given this has been publicised a month after it was stolen I don't hold out much hope. I'll scan and post the article when I get home.

Poor bloke. He must be gutted.
No Landau owner wants this to happen to a fellow Landau-ite. |

Luckily it's a pretty rare car.
I can only offer the possible glimmer of hope a friend who owns a bike wreckers told me once. He has a list of bikes that were stolen in the area (obviously, he's a wrecker and that's where shifty characters might turn up with bits), and he said one bit of advice was to possibly put a "wanted" advert in the cars and car parts sections of local newspapers, trader magazines, and those little free trader books you see around. Say that you need any parts to suit whatever it is that got stolen, and see if anyone rings up selling bits and pieces. Remote chance, but it has worked before and is better than nothing... |

Hi guys,
This is my car you were talking about. Just found this thread and thought I would let you know there has been no news on the car yet. A bit more info too; The seats are the brown saddle type which I have seen very few Landau's with (especially in good condition) and mine was recovered in brand new original material. If anyone see's these up for sale or happening to turn up in a car I would greatly appreciated the heads up. Thanks for everyone being on the lookout. |

Hi all,
Sorry to resurrect this old thread but I just wanted to put out one last plea for help. It's been nearly 3 years now and as you've probably guessed my Landau is still missing. I have no doubt that has been stripped and had a respray by now but I would still love to catch the scum that took it as I hate the thought of them out there free to take another's pride and joy. My main hope is of someone recognising the interior. As said previously it was the 'mouse pad' style, brown nylon and brand new. I have not seen many Landaus with the brown nylon interior in good condition and even less, if any, with brand new material. Below is a pic of the interior. If anyone has seen seats with this material for sale or even in a car I am (and by I, I mean the police) will be chasing up any leads at this point. If they are in a car or if you've unknowingly purchased them, I would let you keep them as a reward if it lead to tracking down those that took the car. Sorry about the long winded post but with all you guys out there on the lookout for parts and going to shows, I feel that one day someone will see something. If that day ever comes pleas PM me, call/text 0439762002 or call the police. And if you got to here, thanks for taking the time to read this. Cheers, Helmzy. |
