Hi FF members in CQ and Rocky. Missus got a promotion and we are moving from Briz to Rocky!!! ( I wouldnt call moving to Rocky a promotion!!)
If you see a westinghouse white wq Fez zetec , with dent in tailgate or a silk BF Mk 2 Ghia, with Metro Ford licence plate, surrounds. Thats us !!! It will be interesting comparing Tropical Ford service with Southside Ford service. See you on the road in CQ !!!

Don't listen to them...Rockhampton is fricking awesome. Plenty of nice coastal areas a short drive away on some interesting roads, Mount Archer is a dream to drive up and down (repeatedly ), and it has all sorts of industry.
If you're into hobbies like model making or die cast scale model cars and vehicles, do yourself a favour and visit the hobby shop in the main street...it's a place the missus usually can't drag me out of every time we go down there. House prices haven't gone stupid, and rents are reasonable as well. We set ourselves a budget of about $280,000 to $320,000, high set, built in underneath, air conditioned, big shed and yard, and the list of places that fit are endless. The only thing is to check the flood map on the council website before buying...just in case. Don't buy in Depot Hill unless insanity runs in your family...there's a reason the houses there are cheap and set on fifteen foot stumps...with a ring on the upper verandah to tie your boat off to... People say "Ooo it's a hot place in summer"...so is the rest of Queensland...suck it up princess... You'll love it. |

Not true my house is only 10 ft off the ground , and I see it as varying location one day I'm looking over green fields , next I have water frontage ...FOR FREE...win win , saves on watering etc etc .lol no really floods like every 10 - 20 years be enough of us in rocky soon to have a little get together I reckon ..BBQ and a beer or two . Welcome to Vegas mate

Welcome to CQ. I haven't had a problem with Tropical. If I had a gripe, it would be the parking around that place as it is always busy when I do my business there. probably the same as every other major service workshop I suppose.

Yep, the parking (when it's busy) at Tropical Ford is atrocious, isn't it?
I've always had service issues dealt with promptly though, even to the extent of them throwing us the keys to a nice new Mondeo turbo diesel when we were getting a towbar fitted and they found out we'd driven nearly 200km just to have it done so we could get around town. When you settle in, go to Samo's Fish Bar on the corner of Kent and Archer street for a feed of fish and chips...you won't fricking regret it, trust me. |

Rocky isnt that bad really... just try and get a place that doesnt flood!!
There are plenty of places within driving distance to keep you occupied on weekends etc...

Will also keep an eye out, yer rocky ain't that bad, plenty of everything round for whatever other hobbies you have. I get round in a shockwave BA sedan with Aussie Aussie Aussie plates with 85JPM and a yellow XY GT rep. Neither get driven much cause I live fairly central on the north side and work south so ride my pushy to work for some fitness. Last time my BA was driven was to go mountain bike riding last Sunday. What company is your wife with?

welcome.. enjoy and Im not a fan.. but thats not the towns fault..
its got everything you need.. although sometimes more expensive.... you wont miss me.. Ive got a 5 post bull bar on the front of a charcoal Bf tray back ute.. until I can sell it anyway lol. and dont listen to the locals.. Mt Morgan is a nice little town as well.. so are all the surrounding little places.. Must agree.. been here 2 years and a few weeks ago was the first time I drove Mt Archer.. Spectacular.. on the way down was most fun... TPG are hit and miss.. Ive only had good dealing with them.. but my old man and a few of his crew have all had painful dealings.. good luck with the move... |

Just did the move myself a couple of months ago from the Sunshine Coast to Rocky. I moved to the Sunny Coast 5 years ago for work and luck (if you call it that) brought me back. I dread the summers here, first thing I noticed when I moved back was how faided shop signs and paint is around the place from the hot sun. Good luck with the move. Like someone said above we should all have a FF Rocky get together.

Welcome to Rocky. I hope you enjoy your time here. Plenty of clothing shops to keep the young lady happy and plenty of "propper shops" to keep you happy. The only gripe I have with Rocky and the area is the flamin' roads. They are rough, with potholes and patches on patches that were patched several times before. It's been that way for the past 50+ years and I don't see any change on the way.

35 degrees celcius are two different things when you compare say Brisbane/Sunshine Coast to Rocky and feel nothing alike. Wait for a 40 degree day to hit. |

It's a nice run of what, 120-odd kilometers?, around the tourist loop from Rocky, out to Yeppoon, down along the small coastal communities along nice roads to Emu Park, and then back to Rocky. Including a mandatory stop at Seagulls Seafood at Yeppoon for fish and chips...get there early, lunch time is mad, but definitely worth it. |

Hmmm better get the paint finished on the pano ...or I will have to take the au ( jokes ) have a road bike too if any of you are keen for a ride. Sunday is cool car and bike day , seems most end up at yeppoon , oh and I golf and fish so anytime anyone is keen ...yell out or a pm .
Oh and an answer to that mackay thing ....not a hope , I've lived in a lot of towns and mack town is one place I detest ...different strokes for different folks I guess . Will re visit this thread next month ser if we can't organize something .

Its just for enthusiats really. I can bring my BA though.
