The thing about this old dudes doof doof is that it is still being discovered by each generation of music lovers 20, 30 even 40 years after its release. Young dudes doof doof will be forgotten a week after its release onto childrens radio stations...

Tubular Bells is in the same category as the 1812 Overture, Beethoven's V, Handel's the Messiah - I could go on. This music will be listened to for all time.
On that note, I have a copy of The Orchestral Tubular Bells on CD. Believe it or not, many of us find side 2 of the album absolutely mindblowing, and this was through a set of eight foot tall, actively crossed over loudspeakers. Certainly turned a few heads, huge fidelity.

One of the most memorable concerts I have ever been to was Mike Oldfield in Sydney in the early 80's. Just amazing

Heathens!! I've got the real (Vinyl) versions.... And from memory Mike Oldfield wrote "Not to be played on old tin boxes" on the Album cover.

Excuses for barging in on "Tubular"... (Great Album by the way)... Just wanted to put in a plug for one of our (Aussie) most underated outfits from that era, and it is, ta da "Sebastian Hardy" !! Quite a few albums out, the only one i really remember "Four Seasons". Do yourselves a favour and google 'em... Cheers
