G'day,
What are peoples thoughts of putting a Dev Kit 4 or 5, in an AU ute? From what I gather, the biggest restriction is the gas mixer. What does the mixer do? What about if I flick to petrol, will it still be restricted? |

Dual fuel won't go all that well as the restriction in the mixer is there all the time and will kill the top end which is a feature of the dev5 cam so you would be left with average mid range and no top end. Try phoning JMM and ask them or GRA and ask them. LPG isn't a performance option on fords. Not that it couldn't be improved but need to consider what you want to do.

Unless you got the LPG injection kit off ebay (see link below). That would work.

I read a post somewhere, that said there were good gains with a dev5 cam and exhaust, just cant find it!
I will go and see JMM, they are not far from me. I would still like to get a good exhaust and cam, and will be intersting to see what can be done. |

Hey JC,
I have never seen those before. Thats something to think about. Although, would probably be cheaper to ditch the gas setup, get a dev5 and run pulp. |

The Dev3HL might be OK - the dev 4 or 5 rely in being able to suck in large amounts of air - the gas ring is a restricter and would limit the maximum air flow. But on a smaller cam (like the Dev 3HL), yuo might be OK. JMM will know - certainly would pay to give them a call.

If you want larger power figures with LPG ... your best bet is forced induction.
Upgraded cam will give you some gains ... but if you choose the right cam.

I can't say anything about DEV4/5 cams, but I very recently got a Crow cam installed (2222549) and after two runs on gas, I don't want to use petrol anymore. It's running 100% on gas.
Probably best to ring JMM about their cams.

G'day AUII!
I read your posts about your cam going in. I think I was just as glad as you when you got your car back! Great to hear that it is running well. I am going to drop in and see JMM about a set-up. I know most people recommend against dual fuel and trying to mod it too much, but I reckon i'll give it a go. I will let you know what advice JMM give me. Cheers guy's. |

I enquired about some mod through JMM a while back and they told me that you'll always get a drop in performance, but never said don't do it because you'll break this, wear this out quicker, etc, etc.
