Default 2004 xr6 reo

hello there I'm new here i have a damaged front reinforcement bar i thought they were a bolt on reo but its a wield job so my question is can i just grind the reo of myself and buy a new one and wield it on or its illegal and what do i have to look out for anything at all when i do it..

the car is: 2004 BA MK2 XR6

hi crash,,i asked the same question about 2 years ago,,,,following is a response i received from a fellow forum member who is a panel beater/spray painter
"Ahh that is hi strength steel so they must be spot welded on to comply with the air bag sensor. You can not mig tig or oxy any where near that item. The rail ends are hi strength steel as well. If you hit it with to much heat the whole lot will distort. I'm a panel beater and do them all week long. But i guess its you car and your safety"
the part is around $120 i think
