There are plenty on here that mod their cars to go quicker.. more power, better suspension, lighter components.. they are looking for every inch of performance, many even resort to lightening their cars, taking out trim, seats even, removing speakers, drilling holes in chasis etc. They think All the comforts/gadgets in cars just bog the car down and arent required, why spend money to go faster and then slow it up with comfort/luxury items.
But many of us forgo ultimate performance of our machines for comfort and luxury inclusions, big powerhouse car audio setups, top spec cars with gadgets etc, leather seats, plush carpet and sound deadening materials, heavy flashy wheels. Its still a must to have power mods, but a well rounded car needs to be comfortable, look flashy and be a delight to drive in more ways than just hitting the throttle. Is your car setup for ultimate performance or are you willing to forgo some performance for comfort/luxury inclusions and visual enhancements? |

You buy the car with the least amount of compromises, and modify it to overcome those few compromises. Simples

My Focus has been lowered 30mm on progressive springs but matched with Bilstein B8 shortened shocks and still has 205/55R16 tyres (Continental ContiSportContact 2) so theres a lot of wall there to cushion the ride. So it still rides comfortably, I did once consider coilovers but apparently they ride stiff as crap in Focus, it still needs to be my daily.
Its got other handling mods like 22mm rear sway bar as well, and a few power mods but nothing is balls to the wall outright performance, just had to be personalised enough My Falcon is just king spring standards in the front to lift it a touch, and the rest of the coin went into head/cam package and manual conversion, its a boat but its comfortable but has a little bit more balls. I'd rather more on the comfort side, so thats why I decided against coilovers in the Focus. |

That is why I have the race car, road car and tow car. No compromises in anything.

As my FPV ute is not my daily, it has been modified to better suit the track.
Makes it a bit uncomfortable and impracticle.

Drilling holes in my chassis for weight savings?!?!
Think I will just eat a smaller breakfast and end the day with my car in one piece!

Mine is built the way Ford intended it to be. Comfortable and fast enough.
My old WRX was modified for power/speed and handling. It was quick but not that comfortable!

Holy crap, it's Harald! How are you going?
My Subaru has been modified for dual purpose, quick at the track but still has AC and reasonable ride. It is nice enough to drive day to day with decent fuel consumption and an easy clutch. My new purchase Falcon ute is rough as guts and as slow as a wet week. Good for moving furniture though. ...Ben

I miss out as I drive an XY which by modern day standards is neither fast (ultimate performance) nor comfortable (comfort/luxury) but it is fast and comfortable enough for me.
Now if your threads didn’t concern themselves so much with modern day criteria and you’d added the category: Is your car built for pure cool………… |

Love the mix of Luxury and performance of the SRT, It's the kind of car that can eat up the Km's and you don't feel battered at the end of the trip!

Never been able to afford a performance/luxury car - I'd like one though!
Power steer, air con, auto box and I6 4.0l are luxuries that I can afford, I love my ute. Cheers!

Im convinced that some on here drive on the street in race spec, taking out part of their interior, no spare or jack and always in the optimal gear at revs where they make maximum torque in case someone trys something on them.
in fact ive seen it first hand. |

Who gives a rats backside what gear people drive in, how many dents their car has or if it has a chev badge. Just for shiggs I am going to see what its like to drive around at max torque all day just in case someone 'tries' something. Alllllll day at 2000rpm! My car is factory race spec with no spare. It will slay all. |

My XB GT is built for speed, but I haven't stripped it out. I have no intention to. I still want it to be comfortable (as mid 70's Falcons go) so it still has full interior, insulation etc. Basically everything in the drive line has been modified to improve speed, braking and handling, while still looking period standard from the outside and still be good to drive on an interstate trip.

What's wrong with driving on the road in "race spec"? I often drive my track car on the road with semi slicks and no spare wheel or jack, it's a bit of fun.

I have not had a spare or jack in my car for 9 years.'..
Once you strip all interior out and you have an after market stereo with doof doof the cabin sounds like a cathedral... Plus it feels and looks like a racecar and at the end of the day it is everyone's prerogative to customize their ride how THEY want too True story or so a mates dad told me... |
