A lot of cars here are affected by the Takata airbag problems as well.
My wife's Nissan Micra got a recall letter for it late last year.

Wow, those numbers are stunning. Actual design faults or qc problems it dont matter, that figure is downright pathetic. Hope those manufacturers can quickly sort this mess out properly to their clients satisfaction & raise their standards in the future, lives depend on it hey!
cheer's, Maka

there are a few companies that every auto manufacturer uses - Bosch, Siemens, Visteon, Autoliv, Behr etc and Takata are one of those. If the OEM relies on them as a full-service supplier then these are the sort of numbers involved when the supplier gets it wrong.

Yeah there's always going to be faults in mechanical items......but as soon as the question is bought up it should be dealt with immediately. Not 20 years later!
I can't get my head around how GM nearly beat the previous recall record all by themselves in the one year |

It's a truly staggering number of cars but the thing that's amazed me is how old some of the cars are that are being recalled, for example Jeep recalled Grand Cherokees dating back to 1993, I mean those cars are 21-22 years old. It's truly incredible.

Older airbags are probably worse for issues due to their age.
