Was given a bunch of photos recently from when I was younger.
Found a bunch of photos of our Corty as the family hack. Might just take pics of the photos and load them up ... easier than scanning them.

Post them up, would be great to see. Still got a pick of me as a baby in the old mans Twin cam Escort before he traded it on a Cortina for family life.
How do we move this thread to the show and shine area with all the other 'show us ya' threads?

OK ... I promised.
Parked at home next to the trusty KB Laser GL (that was a top little car as well). This was taken just before 1988 (as the laser got Bicentennial number plates in 88) Road trippin around NSW early to mid-80s. That's me sitting in the back seat. Yes there is a dent in the boot. X-pack had the overriders/driving lights/4-spoke steering wheel/air-con/cloth interior (not the crappy vinyl)/vinyl roof. 4-speed manual as well. Reckon a decent 5-speed behind it would have made these even better. I have older pics but has family standing in front of it ... these are the better ones I could find.

I spent most of my pre married youth mucking around with Cortinas.
1st one I bought cheap was a TE 4.1 auto GL, Blue Steel. a trip to the Gold Coast. https://postimg.cc/Hr7gv552 Being a spray painter, I wanted a red one, so I repainted the blue one inside and out Monza Red, my old man was a mechanic and was very anti modding cars, keep em stock, would have looked a bit better with a set of mags Scored the factory rear spoiler at the local wreckers, went into a lot of detail with the paint job, note the grill and the badge work - 4.1GS on the rear. My older Brother bought from new, Pine & Lime 4.1 Manual, with Factory air, he was trading it for an 3.3lt 5 speed X pack, I brought off him for the trade in cost, one owner car. Kept this car until my wife fell pregnant with our 3rd child, too small had to go, poorly staged pics of this car at Bathurst on our road trip to the snowy mountains on our honeymoon. Eventually repainted the car again in the original colour. https://postimg.cc/vxf3JYYc Last edited by 4stanger; 01-03-2021 at 08:44 PM. |

4stanger I’m amazed how good MK4 and MK5 Cortinas look.
They were ahead of their times with their boxy but very European styling . They don’t make them like that anymore |

Yes I liked the shape, I also wanted to get into a TE wagon, but they were hard to find a good one for the cost though, and harder to find with a 4.1 donk, a mate had a 4.1 TE Ghia with the factory sunroof (I reckon these were rare) it leaked and he sealed it silastic

And I preferred the sedans to the wagons. In South Africa we had the Ute as well |

Hi , I have had 3 Mk1 Cortinas all race cars.
Firstly a very rare genuine 1963/4 2 door Aussie GT with all the right chrome strips etc. This car is still racing and is for sale - the current driver has retired. Second a 1964 Lotus Twin cam replica. Also been racing until very recently and is now in the hands of another Cortina racer undergoing a complete restoration. The third one a 1964 flow thru 2 Door GT I still have and its undergoing a refresh after being in storage for 15yrs. Hope you like the Pics .Sorry could not get the 3rd one on will try seperate post see if that works.

Well here it is a photo of the 3rd Gt Cortina Mk1 Race Car.
I raced this car in the 90's. It was in storage for over 25 yrs and has just been refreshed and repainted in its original colors. Just getting back into it slowly by doing some of the Vic. Hillclimb Championship Events and Phillip Is Classic in March.
