Randomly one morning at work, the Boss tells me and another co-worker to leave and get out to Eastern Creek Raceway.
One of our suppliers was a sponsor of one of the teams, and as it turned out they had a day where the V8 Super Car drivers were taking sponsors for a hot lap in a V8 Super Car. Totally unprepared a short time later I am suited up, and sitting next to Tim Slade. I think I was swearing the whole way around. I couldn't believe the acceleration into corners, late braking and the speed at which the car sticks through corners. It is truly something that should be experienced.

Diving and being driven in a Jaguar F-Type R at Sandown Raceway.
Having never driven on a track before this was also the fastest I have ever gone in a car. I was then taken on a few hot laps with Supercars driver Tony D'alberto at the wheel. My chest felt like it was being crushed under brakes and through corners. The way a race driver can brake, turn and accelerate is far beyond a normal person. Very memorable experience and something that brings a smile to my face whenever I think about it. And I still want an F-Type!

Hi Guys,
One of my brother's was a manger of a Restaurant in Sydney. One night I went to pay him a visit and when the Restaurant had closed for the night he told me " he will have to stay back for a while to finish some work". One of the waiter's said " He would give me a lift home" so I got into his old VW. It turned out his old VW had a Porsche motor in it and went like a bullet and went around the corners like it was on rails. " Not bad for an old VW". |

When as an 18yo I drove a yellow XA GT Coupe across Phillip Island, from San Remo to Cowes and return, with no-one watching

As a young adult blasting to 140mph in my dads XAGT coupe just outside Young coming home from Bathurst and watching my dad take on an L34 up to 125mph where the Torana started running out of puff , dad put 3 fingers up to the driver then a fourth as he pulled fourth gear and pulled away , we never saw that car again on our way home.

As a passenger when I was 18 the apprentice at my work took my for a ride in his heavily worked Mitsubishi Starion Turbo, rowed through the gears 1-4th, it hauled like you wouldn't belie being a ex drag car. Driving, a mates BA XR6T, foot flat to the floor thought it didnt have much more than my BF NA, till about 70km/t when it wanted to launch into the stratosphere...

First time really was when Dad got his BF F6. I thought it was fairly cracker at full throttle and it was chirping into 2nd gear.
Next was an old boss of Dads who had an MY99 type-RA WRX, thing was mental and I hadn't been driving manual cars all that long at the time. More recently started my current job and drove a Jeep Trackhawk a bit - absolutely lunacy.

it was my dads car and we were at a set of lights at Sydney rd and he just got a shiftkit installed and he lit it rip "far kme". no wheelspin and you were pushed back into your seat until he hit 110 and let of. The sound of the gen 3 3inch custom straight pipe, no cat, big extractors. it was insane and ill never forget it

I drove an R32 GTR that was pretty scary in the wet, but the car that got my adrenaline going was a series 2 RX7 with a big turbo 13B, you needed to gave the seat forward so that you could reach to pull 2nd. the other think I remember about it is the amount of fuel it sucked up

Supercharged Mustang. Would have been one of the first development cars that later became the R-spec. This was about 3 or 4 years ago. The first iteration failed drive by noise regs and they shelved it, before they got it out again to have another go at it later on. Got it to pass the 2nd time.
Pulled onto the constant speed oval and let it rip. Never felt pushed back into the seat as hard as that. |

1987. Blown 350 in a A9X hatchback. Was a 9 second car
Then after having my F6 tuned to 480rwkw and feeling being pushed back into the seat in 4th gear. Felt like second. Bloody awesome.

Well, not a car but a bike. I have riden dirt bikes before, but never been on a street bike. My brother has a kawasaki z1000. So a while back i was at his and we were going for a bottlo run. I said yeah we will take me ute. He comes down with his spare jacket, gloves, boots and the new helmet he had that doesnt fit his fat head. All he said to me was if he leans, lean, if he tucks, tuck.
So going up his driveway, i was on the back and still working out how not to beat my balls to death, he pulls out and pegs it. Sort of slows for the roundabout but straight lines it. He tells me he was being nice at only 140 through the roundabout. I much prefer a metal cage around me. But man, i can understand people on fast bikes. 0-100 in a heartbeat. My brother kept the front wheel on the ground so it wouldnt have done 100 under or around 3 seconds, but still bloody fast when i wasnt expecting it. And he had just put in a stiffer shock. So that did a number on my undercarriage. |

I hadn't had my license very long when I got an EL GLi. First time I put my foot down I was pretty impressed.
Things have moved on since then...

A work mates Yellow Pac Performance modified Mazda R100
Crazy 12A Turbo running the original 1969 cheese cutters and drum brakes all around that pulled hard left on braking and no traction in first 3 gears...like driving on ice skating around. Basically a death trap, but that was a good 20 years ago now. |

As a youngster got to drive a manual M5.
About 2000 model. Probably no faster than my recent cars but as young bloke with a Pulsar and no history of cars in family it felt bloody quick!! (in fact I still love the look and sound of that model M5) |

Hi. The biggest step for me was driving a Lamborghini Countach in the late 70's. A great leap forward from the holdens, fords, valiants and jap stuff that I had driven before that. After that the next memorable thing was a hot Mazda RX2 that was a customers car, a honda S600 that I helped fit a fiat 1600 twin cam engine into ( anything that you more than double the engine size is scary and a couple of MK3 zephyrs that I put V8's into. Cheers MD

The R36 in launch hits hard - problem is I don't trust the DSG so I look after it!
My tuned BA-T faster once in gear but nowhere near as easily. I hear these old stories which are very cool. Were they that quick though? I doubt it as they certainly arent now unless heavily modified with modern tech. Think a lot of romance in some stories as cars slow back then so more first fast car experiences. There is/was a member on here who is best known on these forums for building a beast of a BA GTP twin turbo, which he has since sold
Anyway back in 2009/10 he also owned a BF F6 R spec which he had modded. I was dropping my car off for service one morning and he was also at the workshop and offered to give me a lift back to the city in his F6. Put it this way, that thing was so damn quick my head was on the harbour bridge while my legs were still out Parramatta

My mates Vspec2 - GTR R32. Modded and tuned to the eyeballs.
WOWSERS!!! I think I got air releasing that clutch on the M4 @ Parramatta. Never forgot that car. It's like your always on boost then you hit a time warp when the second turbo kicks in. Everything on the street feels it's on fast forward...

After a bit of a think ill have to rethink my comment on a fg turbo(still shocked me at the time) and say a low 12 second gc8 wrx with a rigoli dogbox and a modded r32 gtr,awd and hp just makes your guts feel weird to be sure
The wrx was back in the 2000ish era and it was a rough car to be in,pretty quick for the day, certainly not for this day though,my daily at the time was a flat 15 second xd sedan with a mild x flow,12 seconds felt real quick then. |
