Surely after your last calamity, “best roo bar” is more the question?
That’s my “advice”. |

Bosch Aerotwins. Best wiper I've used (there may well be better out there).
I have heard good things about Wipertech as well. |

Is it worth considering adding 'Stickies' for wipers, batteries etc

Buy a box of 20 Tridon metal backs when they are on special and swap every 6 months or so. They will outlast the car and be comparatively much cheaper than the Bosch ones.

I am curious to peoples experience with these magic Aerotwins in areas of heat and sun, like sunny Queensland. How long do they last before the rubber craps itself and require replacement.

They certainly last longer than the normal type blades thats for sure. I had the ACDelco aerotwin copies on my Caprice which sat on the car for circa 5 years before I replaced them because they got a bit halal. |

The last 4 or so years I have been fitting Exelwipe FlexFlat Premium Wipers.
It is the wiper assembly most of the late model Euro (German) vehicles use as an OEM. Excellent size range. I'm a little OCD and fit the absolute largest wipers which operate without fouling. Bought a box of 50 of my common sizes and fitted to my 300 SRT and my FG Series 2 G6E. Average cost equated to $5.50 per Blade assembly. The set I fitted pre Covid lockdown continues to work well, no squeaking, no machine gun, no missed patches or uneven swipe. These blade replacements can be obtained from Auto One stores. Non discounted price is around $10. |

Depending on the time of year we get 3 to 6 months out of the Tridon refills before the rubber goes hard and needs replacing. Makes it an expensive option to use those Aerotwins if I have to swap them even every 6 to 9 months. And I might only get to use them 10 or 20 times a year. |

There's a bit more to wiper performance than just the blade too, especially when you get uneven wipes or jumping across the screen.
Who remembers the old metal backed refills? Those enable you to refill shagged blade assemblies. The pivots on the wiper blade assembly are critical to wiper performance, they lose their tension over time and if you put wiper refills in them when they're shagged then your refills last **** all. Same with the tension provided by the spring in the wiper arm itself, wiper arms lose their tension holding them onto the windscreen as the spring ages. That in itself, the tension of the spring in the wiper arm and the pivots on the blade assembly is a bit of a calculation for optimum blade life and performance on behalf of the people who designed the wiper system. Spring in the wiper arm and a wiper blade that the pivots have seen better days you end up with poor life and poor performance before you start doing the jump across the screen and streaks dramas real early. With refills dropping off it's alleviated the dramas with shagged pivots on the blade assemblies because the whole thing is replaced every time now. If you're finding it doesn't matter what blade you fit to the arms, if you're getting poor life out of them it could be time for new wiper arms. Last edited by Franco Cozzo; 17-01-2024 at 11:41 PM. |

I ordered some 22" Bosch blades from SCA the other day.
Just under $40 for the set, but special order so wont see them til about next week. I thought that was fair price. |

The quality equates to, and may exceed, the Bosch and Repco brands Wave and Beam wipers retailing in the $40 - $60 price range. |

I'm a plus one for the Aerotwins - last set lasted 2 years but the car is out in the weather 24/7 and they were still working fine but I like them perfect! Just don't be lazy like I was and get the dealer to order them in at your service where they end up costing more each ($57 ex) than a pair costs everywhere else!
