Default Victoria to be saved?

Well, looks like "King Jeff" is going to do a phoenix & rise from the ashes to save us from Bracksies anarchy.
Does anyone REALLY think it's possible that Kennett could become Victoria's Premier again?
AND, would YOU vote for him?? :

Quite possibly.
It wasn't that he did great things for the state, it's that he actually did something... not just talk about doing it.

No matter what I think of "King Kong Kennett", I have to admit he can grab a headline.

I suspect this announcment has more to do with covering up the fact that state Liberal is not providing much opposition.

And to take the heat off Mr Doyle who just resigned after hitting a historically low approval rating. His marriage resently broke up so hopefully the media give him ago, and let him bow out quietly.

I honestly doubt Jeff is fair dinkum, but you never know.

Jeff may joint the long list of pollies who have successfully made come backs, like.... errr....ummm......?????

I reckon the auditor-general may be loosing some sleep.

I doubt he would be voted back in to the top job, Libs are that desperate in State Politics next they will be recruiting Malcolm Fraser for a come back.

no doubt The Labor party are seriously worried about Jeff's possible return - enough for Joan Kirner to speak out about it anyway. It will take some serious voting power to overthrow the Bracks dictatorship, but I think Jeff can do it, and I think he will do a good job of cleaning up this state which needs doing again. I don't think there's much in it for him personally though, but i do hope he returns.

Under Kennett we had under funded police, hospitals, schools toll roads and a healthy budget surplus. Debt from Labor was dealt with. Under Bracks we have the same, and even higher taxes with a lower surplus with another toll road on the way. Speed cameras are multiplying to prop up the state's finances.

At least Kennett didn't need an army of consultants to scratch his bum. He got things done, but got a bit too arrogant - even for a politician. If he listens more to the people should he choose to make a comeback he would be a viable alternative to Bracks - any half decent offering is better than Bracks. Problem is until now the Libs had no half decent offering.

John Howard was written off and .......... returned (I am not sure if that was actually a good thing).

You guys whinge about Bracks but do nothing about it. BUt then again we have Beattie so we are just as bad.

I suspect a lot of the problem that there are too many minority groups getting media backing and the pinkos just cave in.

We used to have an elected dictator here, Joh, whom many despised but we had:

FREE ambulance
FREE hospital
Subsidised petrol
The RIGHT to protect yourself, your family and you possessions in your own home. (if you hurt or killed a criminal while they were robbing or assulting you in you own home, you were not automaticly charged)
A free society unless you played up and if you did you were snotted severely not given 200 hours community service for rape or murder.

What we didn't have was:

Speed Cameras.
Poker machines.
Death Duties.
Large numbers of otherwise unemployable oxygen thieves overpayed as "consultants" or "advisory groups".
Huge amounts of public money spent on football fields, walk & bike bridges, ugly giant avante-garde garden gnomes to attempt to look sophisticated.
STATE DEBT.
Councils with superhero notions.

All the money to run the facilities was raised in house for the state owned TAB etc. not from "road tax" and "pub tax".

The problem is that some dictators are not there to help the people (well most of the people anyway) and if you get a bad one you are buggered.

If Kennet comes in soon, and has some good policies, I reckoin Bracks may be given the flick. But as shown, if the opposition come up with something good, Bracks will do what they say, so he can look good.

If Kennet does come back, I believe he will do more good than bad this time. But then yet again we all could be completely wrong about this.

So it was a stunt! Fancy Mr Kennett trying to divert our attention from the real issues!!

He was the master at leading the media, so I don't blame Jeff.

Remember; "I'm thinking of legalising marijuna"," thinking of not paying teachers over holidays", " Oh look there's a flying pig" etc and the media just gobbled it up!
At the same time schools are closed, every asset that's not nailed down is sold, the attoney-general disappears.

{A voice from somewhere else on the forum (a little to the right of centre)}
>Well he had to Work Horse to pay off the Cain/Kirner debt!

So you hold the Victorian state government responsible for a world wide down turn! LOL

>They made it much worse than it had to be.

Oh where is the evidence for that you muppet!

> Blind freddie could see that, and who are you calling muppet!

Oh yer!

>Yer :

Then suddenly from on top of the forum the giant hands of XA-Coupe appear with a giant padlock looming.

I'll be good Jeff I'll be good!!!!
No more inflammatory stuff I promise :monkes:

But no sooner is XA-Coupes back turned.

Collingwood for the flag!!!!

I don't care who as long as something is done to Fix Victoria and save us!

I'd vote for Mark 'Chopper' Read and he can 'stand over' and fix it all. Fisrt get rid of all speed cameras and lift speed limits.

When I heard Jeff was "thinking" about it I got so excited...even got thinking of a big "Bring Back Jeff" Sticker for the car, which is rare because I usually hate stickers.

Vic is now screwed! Doyle was a goose, but still had my vote, now his gone, Jeff said no, I dont know of any other pollies at all!

I severley doubt the liberals are going to return to gov, even if Jeff had returned. However, he may have helped the party to re-establish a decent opposition.

While it's a pity that Jeff has decided not to contest the Liberal leadership,at least he won't be lost to the mighty Hawks as he will remain the President and thank goodness. lol

Unfortunately speed cameras are here to stay, I don't think any government could afford the loss in revenue losing them. It's a gold mine. Jeff has had his day, I am glad he did not come back.

We need someone with foreward vision and an idea as to the most diplomatic way of approaching a fix to things. Kennet certainly had vision and brought a lot of things to Victoria, but a lot of things were taken away too

I dont care what party, as long as the above criteria is met

I'm a fan of the way Kennett ran things. He didn't take crap from anyone and brought alot of things to Victoria. Transport ran a whole lot better IMHO. There were less strikes. And the labour debt was turned around into a surplus. A surplus that the labour government took no time in turning into nothing again. I was kinda hoping Premier K would come back. I'd vote for him.

I can still see Kennett back as the Lib leader by November... Just read between the lines on what little Johnny & the fed liberals are saying about the lack of quality of the rest of the Victorian Liberal line-up.
They definately see him as the ONLY possible way to get the libs back in power here.
