Nothing farcical about the Germany v Italy final, was a great game.
You think that Viduka and Kewell in their respective club careers never engage in theatrics and try to get a penalty by pretending or exagerating a foul. It happens in every single soccer game everywhere in the world. It's part of the game. Furthermore, wasn't Kewell in off-side when he scored against Croatia - none of you guys are complaining about that. |

Can't wait to see the acting in the final!! Should be an oscar winning performance from both teams.

The Germany v Italy game was fantastic, both teams played hard & fast to the last minute, that game made the France V Portugal game look like amateurs.
I hope France get their act together and play a better game against Italy, otherwise it will be a slow boring game. And for those complaining about the acting, yes there was a bit of that, from both sides, but it makes for a good laugh when you replay it in slow motion. Anyway, hasn't anyone here played a sport and had a knock that gave a temporary pain, 'dead leg', and quickly recovered? Yes some of those falls are obvious dives, but some are automatic reactions to a hit. There is one in the G v I game where Toti gets tackled from behind and kicked in the ankle, he went down and we all laughed because it was an obvious dive, but I later found out that he broke that ankle and couldn't play for three months, he has only recently got back into the game. So was it an obvious dive, or was it pain and an automatic reaction?

I doubted that Australia could have beaten Italy, but when watching the game I had second thoughts, they looled like they had a chance. When the ref gave a red card to Italy I said watch how hard Italy play now. I can't remember ever seeing a game when a team with one man down doesn't play better, they sort of 'rise to the occasion'. When Italy got the ball they looked more dangerous than Australia, the way the ran down the field, they were faster and their shots at goals were more purposeful. It would of been great to see Australia win, and maybe they could of, but look at the game Italy v Germany and you'll compare it against Australia's games, you'll see two different levels of game play. Having looked at the Lucas Neil incident in slow mo, there seems to be a hand moving across and grabbing Grosso's leg momentarily, I think this is what the Ref saw & is why he called a penalty. It's all over now, so everyone, get over it & watch some great Football.

Finals hardly ever live up to the ride getting there and I don't expect it to be a classic but you never say never. Italy is playing a different game atm compared to the last 10yrs and with the French old legs final hoorah it could be a rippa. As for the acting comments again etc get over it,I don't like it either but it's been part of the game for as long as I can remember and I don't see crowds getting smaller because of it. Our beloved Aussies did a fantastic job but it came time to say Ciao. I didn't think Italy could beat Germany but wow did they blow me away..... Regardless of a boring game/diving/academy awards/ it's win at all costs for the biggest prize in Football.........FORZA AZZURRI'S...........

I'm over the fact that Australia isn't in the game anymore, they are not up to that and the Italy game proved it. All Australia could do was really pathetic attempts at goal. When you watch the other teams the ball really flys at the goal. Its hard, fast and usually pretty accurate. Australia sucked at shooting for goal. I'm going to back France in the final but I think Italy will have the edge and win it. I also think that Portugal V Germany will be an awesome game but I don't know who to back in that one.

Have a look at the replay, it's dirty play and Portugal have a reputation for it.

Not a big fan of Henry but in this case he got it spot on...The Portugese got what they deserved...and as far as the "dive" is concerned...its a moot point. The defender Carvalho actually admitted his guilt: Quote:

well as the commentator stated 'what goes around comes around.' I think he was trying to say that it was a soft foul but Portugal did something similar in a previous game.

Ah that
Well its been analysed so many times. Some say Neill caused a foul by sliding and impreding Grosso, so who knows? |
